Reasonably good hotel with nominal rent. Good rooms with comfortable beds and bathroom. Only problem is that you have climb the steps to reach the upper floor rooms. Good for a weekend or to stay while on a Kerala tour

Room Tip: Ideal packages available through Abad Hotels

Another fine room, with just the perfect bed and bathroom, with a wide window opening to the little, terrace that one is better keep closed or squirrels and little monkeys might like to drop for a visit. All set in lush tropical garden, with a good size pool to cool down after a visit to the Tiger Park or a shopping spree in the nearby shops, as the hotel it's right in the middle of the busy village, but kept hidden and peaceful by the large front gates.

Room Tip: Try to get a room closer to the entrance otherwise you might have to walk a little to get to your pl...

My friend and I spent one night at the Abad in Jan 2013.

While the rooms are spacious, with each having a balcony, and the place very clean, the feeling of being in a mountain venue is completely lost.

Though the location of the hotel is great with the center of "town" very near by, but the trade off is that there are no good views and there is barely a feeling at all that you are in a hill station rather than just the suburbs of some city.

The food was also very mediocre, though the Idlis in breakfast are some of the best we have ever had in our lives. All the other food left a lot to be desired.

The spa is very traditional, so if you go for a treatment, be prepared for that. You are not going for a session of zen relaxation and pampering, it is more of a medical treatment of specific ailments that you want to address.

Also note that there is no alcohol in the restaurants at this hotel. The service overall is also average.

But the flip side is that this is a decently priced central place to stay if you are looking to stay in Thekkady.

Review for our recent one night stay at Abad Green in Jan’13

A comfortable hotel at the heart of the city with nice, lush green surroundings. Arriving from Munnar (which was a bliss!!), this hotel still gave us the soothing greenery all around.

Pros: The room was equipped with a chargeable mini-bar as well as tea/ coffee maker, all proper room amenities were in place. Each room was equipped with a private balcony, LCD television and running hot water. The restaurant manager (night shift) was very helpful and catered to all our food demands. The hotel is situated at a strategic location, very near to the local market action and all the cultural program venues.

Cons-Not really any big ones, although small ones do make a difference- 1) Only 1set of tea/ coffee maker in the room, all extras are chargeable (haven't seen this at any of the earlier stayed hotels) 2) pathetic food- the buffet (both dinner and breakfast) although consisted of a large spread-most of it was really tasteless. Even the ready-made tea ordered in the room was made with tea bags and was yuck! Spending even the Rs.800 in the hotel on food seemed a waste 3) the hotel is right next to a mosque, the ‘azaan’ wakes you up in the wee hours in the morning 4) The hotel spa closes very early although that doesn’t hurt much because you have plenty of spa options at the nearby local market 5) no clear distinction of the Jungle Cottage (higher category) from the Jungle Lodge (base category). Both of these are placed at the same vicinity.

Ideal for a shirt stay provided you eat outside..

As the title suggests, thekkady was a picturesque forest in a town. I wasn't expecting so much lush greenery in the heart of the town. The weather made all the difference; we went during mid January, it was quite pleasant throughout the day. The resort was well maintained and the rooms were equipped with necessary amenities of tea/coffee maker, etc. We had taken the jungle room which was basic but good. The food was just average but overall the resort was good. We went for the elephant ride which is a kilometre away, it is a must visit and we also got to feed the elephants.

Room Tip: Try to get an upgrade to the jungle cottage at the same price.
