We took up our not so good experience at Windsor Castle and decided to shift to its sister property Lake View Heritage Resort which is an extension of the hotel grounds. It appeared that big weddings are held in the massive grounds and that helps in running the show.
The resort was almost bereft of staff on the day that we were there.

We have recently went out on a vacation to Kerala starting with Kumarakom. Our intention was stay at Kumarakom, however this hotel is not in Kumarakom and 18KMs away from KKM. We checked into this hotel at 10PM. Since, this hotel is not so popular, the hotel management converted the restaurant into a bar. The only way to reach the hotel rooms is actually passing through the Bar. The Bar actually filled with drunken people and there are lots of them. It resembled like a roadside Dhabha. What we imagined would be a nice experience turned out that we literally waited for the night to get over so that we could get out of the hotel and we actually did as soon as we saw sun light in the next morning. This is not the place if you are planning to vacation with family. We didn't try hotel food. There is absolutely nothing to write positive about this hotel. our advice, do not get carried away by the pictures. Getting to this hotel is a waste of time and money.

Room Tip: Don't go here.

We live in Kochi. We stayed here for one night as I had to deliver a training in Kottayam. I worked, but my husband was able to enjoy the place while I was working.

We really weren't sure how it was going to be after reading mixed reviews here. We were wondering also if it would be worth it (financially). Initially, we were skeptical, but really I am very pleased. Yes, I do understand why some may think it's too expensive, but really the resort is big and the buildings are very unique (we stayed in a cottage). It's not easy to maintain such a big ground. While some areas can be better maintained, overall I really enjoyed the experience. Most importantly, the room (cottage) is so amazing. It's such a retreat. Not many if any other visitors were there when we were there, so it was a quiet place. And, the way the room is created, it feels like an oasis on top of water! I had a very comfortable sleep and the bathroom was very well maintained. The bathroom is a partially open air room. It's really nice and surely would be exotic for foreigners and Indians alike.

The room service was superb. David was very helpful particularly. Though most of the people lack fluent English, they were VERY helpful. Also, take note that the free breakfast is not a buffet, you must order and it may take time to get the food. (At least when we were there there was no breakfast buffet, not sure if it is like that all the time.)

We only were there one night. I would really like to go there again.

This place is amazing and peaceful. You get an amazing view of the lake from the windows as well as Balcony of your cottage. The spa is rejuvenating though you have to book your treatment in advance. Ambience is classy and you get a peaceful atmosphere. If you want to chill out this is the place you should visit...!!!

Room Tip: Cottages on the side of the lake are peaceful.

We came to know this resort from trip advisor and called their phone number provided in their website. As one another reviewer mentioned they have 2 properties Windsor castle in the front which is a normal business hotel which has standard & deluxe rooms and this resort on the backyard. The hotel management, reservation desk everything is common for both the properties. Many hotels operate 2 properties like this, but they clarify the praise differences & facilities. We were told we will be given deluxe rooms ( and obviously there is no word about windsor castle) but when we landed there we have been allotted a room in the business hotel. Many resorts use these terminologies like deluxe rooms in cottages and hotels., so we thought some classification within the lake village resort. I was just cursing myself for paying a Rs.4800 per night for a business hotel in kottayam., As many reviewers mentioned, this locality was awesome but the maintenance is pathetic to the core. Also they mentioned about there is no brochures in the hotel. This was not one of the incident and later understood this is by design and the management don't want to clarify the difference between two hotels. Basically keep the website for Lake village resort and fulfill the Windsor castle rooms. When I landed, I requested them to allocate a cottage(resort ) and I don't mind paying the extra money but they were overbooked. Next to us, there was a foreign couple and the hotel manager was trying to show them the windsor castle again and trying to convince., It is sad that hotel management thinks, marketing/selling is about cheating or hiding the information. The food was tasty but the service is again horrible. To be specific we have ordered a plain white rice & curd (most exotic & difficult dish to make!!!) for our baby first and we ordered few other dishes for us. They took exactly 50 mins to serve a white rice & curd in the restaurant(this was not a room service). What a service !!! Many road side restaurant can do a better job in this. Over all if you are booking in this resort based on the reviews from tripadvisor be careful about lake village resort & windsor castle hotel. There are plenty of properties in this location for a better backwater/lake resort experience than this.

Room Tip: When you book, make sure you are booking a cottage only in lake village heritage and not in a Windsor castle
