It is a very interesting temple in many aspects. The main structure which houses the sanctum sanctorum does have any other idols but just the Ganapati/Ganesh in the sanctum. Outside, you have several usuals like Bhagavati, Nagaraj & Nagas and Lord Ayyappa. But beyond the rear entrance, there is an annexe temple complex having Vishnu, Shiva and Durga. Still more interesting is the presence of Gulikan (popular in North Kerala but very very rare in South Kerala) in the main temple located facing the main deity at an angle. The temple is extremely well maintained and has a great ambiance. Access is a bit difficult since it it is a pretty long drive from the gate like structure you see in the Ernakulam-Ettumanur State Highway through a narrow road. Currently we have to take the alternate route which has a railway crossing on the way since the principal road is closed for maintenance. The very vast car parking in the front is very convenient in almost all the days except the festival season here. The large free area around the temple make you ignore the crowd and feel 'aloneness' if you choose to.

An ancient and unique temple very near to Vaikim and Ettumanoor , The Moola murthi holds a Sri Krishna Salagrama in his hand. An auspicious offering here is offering mukkutty flowers to Sri Ganapathy . The sanctum emanates peace , a must visit for anyone visiting Vaikom or Ethumanoor .

It surprises me of the quality of temples and simplicity of people running these in this remote part of India. People are so polite and extremely friendly, I fell in love with this part of Kerala! (Trivandrum, on the other hand was not as nice an experience as this part of Kerala though). This temple specializes in Ganapati, an elephant headed god, who was the son of Siva, one of the 3 main gods in hindu religion..
