We only stayed at this hotel 2 nights. It was very nice and central to old Kochi. The pool was good and the bedroom was very nice. Only complaint was that the fridge did not cool anything very well and when we asked for another one, the staff probably did not understand what we wanted, so we basically got ignored. All in all, no complaints though.

Really good value booking to stay in this real pretty home. lovely views of the dutch cemetery and beach from the balcony.

Clean room with huge bathroom and nice high ceilings.

nice sized usable pool to use during down time.

food was really good and the chicken malabar is in the top things I ate all trip!

ideal to walk to beach less than a hundered metres (was packed and fun on sunday!). everywhere is walk able from here but if the heat is too much pick up an autorickshaw outside most will ferry you around for an hour for less than 50rs or do a trip for 10-20rs!

Nice staff and good customer service!

We did not stay at the Poovath, but we did spend lots of time on the veranda overlooking the Arabian Sea, drinking cups of great cappuccino while birdwatching - it's a birders paradise Kingfishers, Bee-eaters, hawks... All the common areas were bright and well kept. Looks like a nice place to stay.

We stayed at this hotel because we liked the idea of an old Dutch house right by the seaside. And that is exactly what it is - it is a fine hotel in a lovely location. The room was not large but well furnished. Breakfast is lovely and the outside porch is a lovely location. We had trouble with the airport pickup (arranged it but could not find the driver at the airport despite looking around a lot for it, and then they still asked us to pay for it). Pre-paid taxis from the airport are very easy and available at all hours, so I would recommend that instead.

Well positioned for a walk to Chinese fishing nets as well as eating places. Hotel is fine. Rooms clean and functional but basic, battled with shower and hot water. View is good over the sea. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired, very basic. (Take your own bread out of a packet and toast it for yourself.) Management completely absent. Establishment seems to battle, sort of too big for a guest house, but too small for a hotel. Kochi is worth a visit, hotel is fine and clean - but nothing special.

Stayed here in mid Jan for 3 nights (first floor) The staff was good and so was the food.
Like some one mentioned here, the Wi Fi is a problem and it just functioned for some time on the first day.
Could not figure out the complicated shower system so had my bath in the bath tub.
The view of the beach is great from the first floor and you can hear the waves crashing.
Suggestion: Keep some sort of a mini shuttle service from the Hotel to the boat jetty/Chinese net, as getting a rickshaw from the front of the hotel is very difficult and to walk it up, its too long.

Room Tip: The west side rooms have the view of the sea.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a group tour. I know it was selected in part because it was a good price for the amenities. My room was on the ground floor. It was clean, spacious and mostly pretty quiet. The air conditioning was OK but a bit noisy. The bathroom was huge and very stylish, but you definitely need to get instructions for the complicated shower or you it will spray you all over before you get in. Also be clear about when the hot water is turned on in the morning and off at night. The Internet is an issue on the ground level which you have to work around. Charging phones and laptops is a problem because of power outages. Ask the staff to guide you. The grounds are lovely as is the view from the upper balcony. Breakfast is fine. The staff were very nice, no complaints there and I did enjoy my espresso drink offered when we arrived. One of the members of our group had to change rooms because of a chemical smell that irritated her, but they accommodated her nicely. The Chinese fishing nets are not far away but get clear directions or you can walk for a long time in the wrong direction! Exploring is easy via tuk tuk.

Room Tip: Try for the upper floor if you want Internet.
