As mentioned by other reviewers, Mr. Harry’s hospitability at Sithara is indeed what stands out most in this homestay. . When we arrived after a four hour long journey, we were greeted with a lovely Kerala meal. The food was excellent, and was cooked my Mr. Harry’s wife herself. She readily shared the recipes with my partner, a food enthusiast. The room we stayed was in the ground floor. While it was airy and clean , our only quibble was that it did not have a wash basin in the loo. We had to step out of the room and use the one in their living room. I’m sure the rooms on the first floor are nicer. Also, wifi wasn’t working.
In terms of location, it’s away from the busier parts (Burgher and Princess Street), but very close to the rather popular joint “Daal Rotti”. The bungalow down the lane is also a popular location for film shooting as we realized.
Sithara was nice, but more suited for people who want a quieter place away from the hustle of the city, especially as the season picks up. However, if you’re a young couple and want to be in the center of action, pick a place in and around Princess Street.

Room Tip: We stayed in the ground floor. But the rooms on the first floor are supposed to be better.

We had a wonderful few days here. Harry and his family were friendly and helpful, and will cook delicious food to suite any taste (definitely take him up on the offer of an evening meal). The rooms were clean and there was easy internet access. The location was great - a few moments walk to the sea and to an excellent restaurant (Dal Roti), and easy access to the main attractions in Fort Kochi. Harry will help you arrange trips and transport and will not rip you off. We discovered a posh hotel down the road that will let you use the pool area for 250 INR, which we did to cool off in the heat for a morning but were definitely glad to be staying at Sithara rather than there. Thanks Harry!

My wife and I spent two nights there in June 2012. When we get to the Ernakulam train station ,we call Mr Harry John and he given me all statements and recommendations to get to her house, and we affirm that is very well located (very near to the tourist places), very quiet, great room, very clean, and the food was delicious (we are vegetarians), we ate traditional Indian food and everything was delicious!!!!!!
The best of all is the care and kindness of Mr. Harry john and his wife. We never forget India, the Indian food, the people, and recommend to 100% sithara homestay

My wife and I landed in Fort Kochi and went directly to Sithara homestay to be greeted by a very caring man and an ever smiling lady. We were given tea as a gesture of kind hospitality. Mr.Harry gave us a very intellectual knowledge about the places we must visit and even arranged for a homestay and a cab the next day for 350 Rs a person. This was an awesome experience. Mr.Harry waited for us very patiently every night just to see that we were safe and kept seeing our well being time and again. I would definitely recommend this place for people who want to spend a nice holiday in peace. The rooms are very comfortable and much more affordable than the ones in the surrounding. Thanks Mrs and Mr Harry.

This was a nice and reasonable place to stay in Fort Kochi but what really made it was Harri and his family.. They were great hosts and when we stayed with them a second time, they were fascinated to hear all about our trip. He also makes an amazing egg breakfast curry!

The guesthouse is very spacious, clean and well located in Fort Kochi. The price is fair for the quality. But the greatest asset is the kindness of the Landlord M. Harry who takes care of his guests, helping, organizing, giving good tips or simply chatting about Kerala. The breakfast consisting of pancakes with coconut was as typical as delicious. I didn't try a real meal but a friend of mines did and deceided it wasn't worth to go out to have lunch and dinner; so good were the fresh cooked meals of the Guesthouse. So... recommended.

Room Tip: Choose the biggest appartment with 2 rooms, sitting room and balcony

Would definitely recommend staying with Harri. It was so relaxing and just a minutes walk from Pricess St. We had breakfast a couple of mornings there which was fantastic! All of the family were very accommodating and welcoming and the rooms are nice and clean. There is also a nice outside area to read and chill.
