Arrived here, almost turned back, as looked dated and really not looked after, considering the grounds could look beautiful if maintained, however inside has a good collection of artefacts and jewellery which still replicates in keralan cultural adornment. The displays definately need to be polished to make viewing good.

If some money could be found to maintain these buildings and grounds the Hill Palace could be a top attraction. Unfortunately it is all a bit shabby and dilapidated. Some of the exhibits were falling to pieces and everything needed to be dusted and polished. Many items of great interest but for me the star attraction was the golden crown presented to the King of Kochi by Vasco da Gama on behalf of the King of Portugal.

I think I was the only white person there when i went and there were many school children who may have enjoyed looking at me more than the museum. I found the displays really interesting and it was my first day in India so it was also a big cultural experience for me. FUN place to visit. Not looked after how they do in museums at home but very cool. The carriages were beautiful.

This is just like any other museum, showcasing the lifestyle of the erstwhile kings of the region. i believe it is a privately owned museum. If you find time during your trip to cochin, pay a visit.

Located approx. 15 kmtrs. from Kochi city is the Hill Palace. It belongs to the rulers of Kerala now turned into a museum displaying things related to its masters. The Palace has a huge garden which is not maintained properly.

Overall good to visit this place.
