This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The building is grand and historic, but still feels very cosy and welcoming. It is in absolutely immaculate condition throughout and is set in lovely grounds with a beautiful pool. Our bedroom was airy, very classy, perfectly turned out and extremely comfortable.

Service throughout our stay was exceptional from everyone we encountered – personal, friendly and helpful – nothing was too much trouble, and everything was undertaken to the highest standards.

Food at breakfast and dinner was amazing and incredible value, nightly musical entertainment was high quality and non-invasive and everything was set out beautifully.

The only imperfections I noticed were the noise from the road outside when by the pool, and a shower that made the bathroom floor wet - certainly nothing to dent the overall impression I got from the hotel.

The management and staff of this hotel should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. I would give it 6 stars if I could; it really is so good.

We have nothing but praise for this elegant, relaxing, superbly located hotel. The hotel itself is stunningly beautiful. We stayed in a garden room, which was understated, simply decorated, and impeccably clean. The outdoor shower was super. The gardens and pool are a real haven right in the centre of Cochin Old Town. It's great to relax with a drink or a light lunch, and a romantic spot for dinner, especially with the live Indian music playing.

The restaurant was spot on, with a combination of southern Indian and western European with hints of Indian. We so enjoyed our meals at Old Harbour, we didn't quite get round to dining anywhere else, though we did try some fresh fish from the stalls opposite the hotel.

To add to all this, the highest praise we have is for the staff. The attitude was helpful, welcoming, warm but also efficient and knowledgeable. We felt cared for and special. The team were always there but never intrusive.

We hope we may return to Cochin - we will definitely stay nowhere but the Old Harbour. Many thanks.

Room Tip: We loved our garden room - always peaceful.

Divine and sublime. You feel like you are staying in the home of your coolest, nicest friends. Loved the yoga on the roof, the infinity pool, dinner in the garden, the massage, the art collection around the hotel, the perfumed scents, the lovely chef. We will be back next year for sure.

This hotel has it all; charm, beautiful buildings, excellent service, delicious food, perfect location and really nice atmosphere. One of the best hotels I have stayed in. We spent Christmas here and enjoyed all parts of it, including the Christmas Eve dinner and the midnight messe in the basilique close by.

We didn't stay here but this lovely hotel became a bit of a sanctuary for my friend and I. We had to access the internet to finish some work before getting on with our holiday and due to the strikes wifi was really hard to come by. Here the staff were more than helpful and gave us a password before we'd asked for a drink.

We continued to visit for a drink here, a coffee and cake there, a chilled glass of wine whilst enjoying the delightful garden scene. The staff even let us stash our shopping while we went to watch sunset.

Next time I'll be staying here!

A lovely homely hotel where you are made to feel very welcome. The food is good and made freshly. Perfectly situated for exploring Cochin. Do not have a massage here, the girl is very inexperienced but everything else about the hotel is excellent.

From the very late check in throughout our stay, the charme and hospitality of this hotel have been outstanding. Location is good, and dining in the garden very pleasant. Wifi connection could be better, though: intermittent and only in the lobby. But that is a minor.
