We stayed in Old Harbour Hotel on September 2012 for 4 nights. As we booked in advance, we were happy to discover the Hotel looks even better than in the online pictures. It's a great boutique hotel, also by western standards, which is perfectly located in the heart of Fort Cochin. The hotel has a colonial style decoration, with a wonderful garden and swimming pool.

The staff gave us superb service which we have never encountered before (and we have traveled around the world). Everyone was kind and intelligent, and they have been very helpful even though we had lots of requests and questions.

As we arrived off-season, we were offered an upgrade to a suite, but decided to stay in a beautiful garden view room. The room was cleaned spotless twice a day, not forgetting flower decorations. Food was excellent, and it's one of the few places in town that serve alcohol. Not only free wifi, there is also a possibility to use a common laptop.

Thank you Jude and the rest of the staff – you made our stay in Cochin unforgettable!

Room Tip: we preferred the garden view room over a suite.

We spent three nights here. The hotel is decorated in a "spare" style with antiques and flowers. It has a lovely swimming pool set in a really beautiful garden in which meals can be taken. In the evening it is lit and Indian music is played. The staff were incredibly helpful and courteous. Breakfast was great - try the masala dosas. The only downside for us were the vegetables served with dinner which were plain, boiled. The chef (who was trained in Glasgow) told me this is what "your people" want with a little butter and salt. The next evening I was provided with the same but with a dull curry flavoured gravy. The rest of the food, especially the fish, was good quality and nicely spiced. Also you get patterns made with jasmine flowers on your bed.

Our arrival in Kochi was disappointing as we were met by a really surly, grumpy driver from The Old Harbour Hotel. This did not set us off with a great impression from the start. The car was awful, dirty towels on the seats, no cold water, not great. On arrival at the hotel, the boot of the car was opened and we were left, we had to move all our bags inside, no-one to help and no-one to greet us. Eventually we were checked in and taken to a room where someone has obviously just been - no other rooms available! The covers on the bed were pulled back, magazine scattered across the desk. Our room was also facing a back alley which was noisy, so we had to sleep with earplugs. I am glad we were only here for 1 night, I didn't like this hotel and I didn't like Cochin. We have travelled through India and this is the most touristy place we have found - which is what I didn't like about it. It was good to move on and I would only return to get to other parts of Kerela

We appreciate the feed back and have worked with our transporter , We do have a man at the entrance who carries the bags, perhaps at that moment he was attending natures call but im sure the bags to the rooms were taken by our staff. It is unfortunate that the guest did not like our city .

We have just come back from 11days in the Old Harbour Hotel. Wonderful place to stay set in an old
Colonial Building. From the start we were met by Sukesh who greeted us with warm & friendliness, throughout our stay nothing was a bother to him. The breakfast was amazing every morning Rahim cooked us something different and even when we were going on a couple of trips leaving at 6 a.m. he was at our room with Juice, Toast and Coffee. The chef Shafi at dinner made as some wonderful meals he loved to have a chat with all the guests and on our second last night made us a special meal to our taste, we were very impressed.

I would also like to mention Jude and Vineetha who were very helpful advising us some of the places to see and do and of course not forgetting the waiters who were always smiling and attentive. the housekeepers who kept our room spotless and the gardeners who kept everything immaculate.

I would highly recommend this hotel as we were made to feel very special and hope to return 2014

We stayed here for two nights near the beginning of our time in Kerala and had the most magical time. A truly stunning hotel - the lantern-lit garden, seated courtyard area and pool are so beautiful we could have stayed there all day if it weren't for the pull of Cochin and all the exciting things to see. Our room was gorgeous - huge, full of light and scented with lemon and jasmine flowers. Breakfast was great - dosa, fruit, delicious juices. It's expensive for India, but absolutely worth it for such a visually stunning and luxurious haven.

We had a delightful stay here shortly after we arrive in India. Sadly we could only get a room for 1 night as they were fully booked but we would have loved to have stayed longer.
Our room had beautiful antique furniture and was cool and airy with a lovely smell of lemongrass. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

The garden and swimming pool area was calm and very attractive- a nice haven from the hectic world outside.

We loved their little pet kitten who wanders around the courtyard area, chilling out under palm trees and sleeping in shady spots. He was very interested in our luggage and came up to our room briefly, perched on the back of our rucksack.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. They arranged for us to transfer to a guesthouse at the end of our stay, moved our luggage for us, and allowed us to come back and use the pool the day after we checked out.

We ate in the courtyard restaurant in the evening which was very atmostpheric. There was beautiful live traditional music and lots of candlelight and romance. The food and service was good, expensive for India, but well worth it for the experience

My mum and I stayed in the Old Harbour hotel for about a week at the end of a fantastic, but very long two month trip in India - we decided to treat ourselves and this hotel was the place to do it. An amazing ending to our trip. This hotel was literally and metaphorically an oasis, paradise. A colonial hotel set around a jungle like garden, peaceful pool. The room was clean and spacious and the smell of fresh jasmine flowers made it even more wonderful. The food was delicious with a made to order breakfast for all types whether it be a traditional Indian breakfast, or if your stomach is feeling a little rough after a long trip, fresh fruit and eggs. Dinner at the restaurant was another absolute pleasure. They make probably some of the best fish curries we had throughout our trip and the restaurant has a view of the candlelit garden. Last but not least, the service was fantastic. Everyone there was incredibly kind, generous and made a constant effort to help and make our stay as easy as possible.
