“What a great way to kick off our honeymoon. Beautiful charming hotel.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

We spent our first night of our honeymoon here. This place was such a treat. Super clean and really friendly staff. We had a garden room which had a nice view of the pool and was nice and spacious. When we walked in our room, there were flowers all over the bed to welcome us on our honeymoon. So nice!

Also, Jude was super responsive and helpful over email, which made planning from the US very easy. They arranged our taxi from the airport and the next day to Allepey. We probably paid more than we needed to, but our driver was great and we knew we were in good hands.

The hotel was well-located close to the fishermen, markets and cultural centers.

As for food, we only had breakfast here. It was solid (and not skimpy--we could order as many things off the menu as we wanted...and we did!), but what was AMAZING was their orange juice. Best OJ I've ever had. And I don't say that lightly. I think it was just fresh squeezed, but damn.

We'd totally stay here again if our travels take us back to Kochi.

We were in Kochi to attend the Muziris Biennale, and every day we drove down to Fort Kochi, taking in the sights, as well as the art. We tried out different places for lunch and tea time.

The Old Harbour Hotel was where we had our best lunch at Fort Kochi. The food was good, the place was fabulous. We wish we could have stayed there too.

The restaurant and common areas are such a pleasure to wander around in, filled as they are with interesting bric-a-brac. There was a lingering fresh smell of lemongrass in the air, and we had a beautiful view of a tree-filled courtyard, where we could have sat down for our meal, but didn't because of a sudden drizzle. Amazing to think that this is in the very heart of Fort Kochi, near all the interesting places.

A great place to stay in, I'm sure. If, like us, you can't manage it, at least go there, have a drink or a meal. Enjoy the birds, the trees, the little blue-ribboned kitty chasing falling leaves...

This is a small, charming hotel in Kochi that we enjoyed on our last day. We had the Bastion Suite which was generous in space. It had a separate small area with a wooden swing, a living area just after the bed space and a separate hallway and bathroom. As a heritage hotel it was well kept and the quaint finishing touches including a very old working telephone put a smile to our face.

The small pool area can be a shower of leaves as it’s right beneath very old trees although someone is on top of cleaning the pool every so often. The food we had for lunch was adequate and simple but the dinner we’ve had redeemed our impression as it was very good. It also provided a great selection of fine Indian wines that you can enjoy.

The old , classic Amabassador car was our “cab” back to airport which was an experience and it was nice that it did have airconditioning on it. All in all, as a member of SLH, it really did provide a wonderful and pleasant stay to us.

I did notice that for a suite it didn’t really provide hardly any toiletries. Just one little soap, shampoo and shower gel. I expected a bit more for a suite ie lotion, dental kit etc but it was not provided.

We stayed in a superior room for two nights at the Old Harbour. The hotel is set right next to the seafront and is within walking distance to all the local restaurants and cafes. It is a heritage hotel and restored to a fabulously high standard. Beautiful and elegant public area's, spacious bedrooms with great air-con to keep you cool.
Lovely maintained gardens and helpful staff make your stay here special. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the 1st night choosing Irani tandoori tiger prawns & jumbo prawn with tomato & coconut sauce - cuttlefish with mint & chilli sauce, carrot & walnut cake cardamom ice cream, white choc banana mousse. The food was excellent and the accompanying Indian wine fantastic (We had two bottles) They also serve cold beer !!!
The restaurant is busy so booking maybe recommended. A fine hotel !!!

We loved our stay in Fort Cochi at the Old Harbour. We had a suite as it was three of us and had a twin bed brought in. The suite was great and facing the park. The location of the hotel was great! The first of every month is a dry month which I think everyone should know if they are there on the 1st and wanting to get a drink outside. There is a nice wine bar right to the outside of the hotel. You can also pay the rikshas outside approx 150 rs to take you to all the highlight sights of Fort Cochi. We had dinner at the Brunton Boatyard which is nearby but I would reccomend that you just have it at the hotel. Breakfast was great and the juices are so fresh!...They also have free yoga in the mornings. The AC in the room was a little tough to understand so be sure to ask when you are being shown your room on how to use it. Iloved the old heritage feel of the property. Would def come back.

Room Tip: The cottage rooms we heard had outdoor showers and bathrooms...sounded neat!

By far one of my favourite hotels of all time. A calm place in quite a busy small town, this hotel is ideally located right on the front of the coast by the Chinese fishing nets, and an easy walk to all the surrounding eateries. The staff were friendly and courteous, the pool and garden area's were beautiful (with the exception of the overpopulation of crows that India seems to have). We stayed in the princess suite, which was beautiful, breakfast was included, as too was wifi. A thoroughly enjoyed stay and if we ever return this is the only place I would stay and recommend to friends and family.

I was recommended by a travel company as a part of a luxury tour to Kerala in Dec 2012. We stayed in the superior rooms and loved the ambiance and service of the hotel. Fort Kochi area in Cochin is amazing and we loved to roam around the hotel. Excellent service, location and food. We would surely come back again.

Room Tip: We would suggest you going with the garden view room for better views and room size.
