As a trained historian, I'd like to see more didactic panels--or at least even one small board explaining the building's significance. Also, perhaps a person could be paid to be on-hand to talk about the site; instead, the apparent "staff" there were unhelpful and mildly surley--NOT the best way to create a welcoming setting...

The church is of significance: it was here that Vasco da Gama (who discovered the sea route from Europe to India) was laid to rest. Today there is just a memorial stone left, his body was moved to Lisbon to the Jeronimos monastery in Belem. The church is simple, it is a quiet spot in the bustle of Cochin

This church is very close to the Fort Kochi Beach and is also a Heritage Structure as many other places in Fort Kochi.

The church is quite old and has a earthy feel attached to it.

This is the church where the body of Vasco Da Gama was buried initially in 1524, before the remains were handed over to the Portuguese in 1539. The place has been marked and a sign board has been kept to let the visitors know.

Unlike the Jewish Synagogue, Still Photograhy is allowed here - but filming isn't...

Well its old church.

Good to join for mass if you are on their time.

Its great environment if you go early morning to this church.

Well what else I say...

It's a pretty church and worth taking a few pictures of it. Go take a look it will rank high on your list of churches.
