It was very crowded when we were there, and it was difficult to spend much time in the building. There are only 8 Jews left in Jew town now and the youngest is the lady selling tickets, and she has never married, so this building may fall into disuse eventually. It is worth seeing for historical purposes though.

Had read a lot about this so thought of checking it out. Right from the baggage counter, the staff behave very rudely. They ask you to deposit all carry bags with them irrespective whether it contains any essential items you may require. The lady at the ticket counter directs you like a military sergeant shouting instructions. Inspite of all this i expected the synagogue interiors to be of interest but the room was a 10*6m room with a dozen cheap chandeliers lit by cfl bulbs. There was no written boards or any items of interest. And as we came out, the lady was now shouting at indian tourists about why they dont carry exact currency change with them for the tkts. It seems like the place is run by a family as a private profit making business. Definitely not worth even a minute.

Its located in a nice street. With the entire atmosphere, the place is a sure visit. A small exhibition is put up on one side which explains hows Jews came to Cochin. Check the floor tiles. Please check up for the holidays before visiting.

This is a small synagogue with not a great deal to see. The glazed chinese tiles are all different and worth a look. Check the opening hours before you go as they are quite restricted. The street leading to it is full of shops and demanding shopkeepers.

This area features in Salman Rushdie's 'The Moor's Last Sigh'.

Its located near the Jews street. The road leading to the Synagogue is lined with well decorated and well stocked shops with antiques and kerala handicrafts. A very clean place, wears an ancient look (of the times bygone). The Synagogue is well maintained but photography inside is not allowed. Entry fee is Rs 5/ for adults and children above 5 yrs. Has a cloak room to keep your belongings including camera, no additional charges for the same.
