“A bit run down”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

This hotel is tucked way in Willingdon Island. Far from the city with no public transport and you need to pay Rs.10 to get into the Island. The hotel itself is a bit run down. The rooms are old. The food is excellent and the best sea food I have had in Cochin. The Massage center is basis but the massage itself is very good.

The worst part of this hotel is the Gym. Needed to be renovated and refitted immediately.

Select this place if you want a relaxed holiday and want good seafood.

Though from outside, you feel let down, the scene changes the moment you step in. The staff is very helpful and courteous and ever ready to sort out any problems we face.

The sea food restaurant ( Rated as one of the best in the world) is very good and expensive. The fish/sea food can be selected form the trolley brought to you, and this will be cooked as per your instructions and choice. Great job.

The food in the regular restaurant also is good. The break fast is to be ordered with your choice items, the charge of which is included in the room rate.
Very quiet, serene surroundings. You can be lost in the ambiance by just switching off your mobile.

Late view from May last year! Yikes!

Casino Hotel is from the CGH Earth hotel chain with a focus on eco-friendly practices which is a good thing. Sadly, the hotel didn't impress much, but it's fine and comfortable for a 1 night stay. Located on Willingdon Island which is home to the port and navy offices, so it's quite peaceful and you escape the chaos of downtown Cochin. If you are staying here, you probably would have gotten your own personal driver, else, getting around may not be so simple.

So the rooms are in a simple, traditional style that would not appeal to all. I personally thought decor was a little tired and old, but it was a comfortable night and everything worked for me. Points go to the great staff at reception - though we arrived close to midnight but they were still very cheery, got us cold towels and welcome drinks, and showed us quickly to our rooms.

Didn't get to use the facilities, seemed a little dated from afar, but hey, in the heat, the pool would have been really welcoming! Breakfast in the restaurants was fine - nothing special but nothing outstandingly bad.

In short, the hotel is ok if you are not picky, but there are other better options depending if you want to be in the old town and fort, near the bustling commercial streets, or just a stopover en route to the hills or backwaters, but somehow, Casino Hotel doesn't really fit the bill of any of the above.

We went on a family trip. Room 208. I was not satisfied with the overall condition of the hotel. Room was old and had a dull look. Bathroom had red granite floor which made it much more dull.
Hotel is due for renovation.condition of the pool was also not so good.Even the pool needs up gradation. Restaurant provide excellent food. The windows had a poor view.

Room Tip: Select rooms which have view to the pool.

Stayed here for two days along with my Japanese collegues. The service of the hotel and all the amenities were quite good. Rooms are excellent and well furnished .The restaurants were good with really nice food especially the seafood. Services are excellent, the hotel itself is quiet and there's not too much disturbance. Worth staying here for a couple of days again.Very near to the famous Fort Kochi and Mattanchery where Vascodagama arrived and the famous Jews synagogue exists.

Room Tip: Nice and safe place for Foreign tourists
