The beach is in fact starts after one leaves the park. Good neat and clean beach though small it exposes to the sea directly having backwaters of kochi on one side.

When in kochi(queen of the arabian sea) one should never miss this place. There are many factors that differentiate the beach from the other beaches of Kerala. The presence of the Chinese fishing nets is probably the most easily identifiable one. The trees and the greenery on the walkway to the beach add to the serene atmosphere there. It is on these beaches that the famous Cochin Carvinal is conducted on New Year’s Eve.But please dont expect much of cleanliness in the area just like other parts of the city.

Very dirty water, specially at the shores, have not seen anyone even dipping their feet in the water. Been there at dusk, awesome blend of hues in the sky and waves on water. Series of Chinese Nets look awesome. Once the sunlight is totally gone, it's really amazing view, too many lights on the other shore and the overall picturesque looks great - reflections of lights waving on the dark water that can create waves on souls if gazed thoroughly. Enjoyed varied local street foods nearby the beach. Sand is unclean, not a nice sandbed to laze. Lots of boulders near the sea shore gives the feel of a port. It was huge crowd of drunk men on 31st Dec. night. Not a decent Party place looking at the quality of crowd at night. Traveller would say it doesn't deserve to be more than a stroll kind of beach.

After reading about this area in various books and websites I was really excited about sitting on the beach to watch the sun set one evening with the Chinese fishing nets in the foreground.

If you liquor'd me up and gave me a mouth full of zanex I wouldn't want to be here. I was so shocked at the amount of rubbish everywhere even though the beach is littered with waste bins. What is it with India and rubbish? Are people not taught about environmental responsibility in schools and by parents anymore?

I know this might sound harsh but when you travel half way across the globe to spend your hard earned cash on a place that you have been told is amazing I get really upset. It's so so so sad to see what could be such a wonderful area for tourists be so littered with so much rubbish!?!?!?!!!!

Based on previous comments and books from 2010 I think over the last few years it seems as though the government has let slip the importance of caring for your historical places of interest and local hotspots. Where are all the taxes going guys? Loads of places in Europe and Africa have dedicated departments to clean and maintain these areas. I think if India doesn't catch up on some of this there will be nothing left for local wildlife or local people.

I'm really disappointed and left to feel very sad about what might be left for future generations.

A Good place to spend your evening, enjoying the sunset, watching the sea, enjoying the people and relax. The place is a bit over crowded at times. This can be kept a bit more clean.
