This is the place to see in Cochin. The most talked about and the most photographed. It's very busy and colourful. There's a fish market on the front and the Chinese fishing nets billow attractively as a backdrop. It's got a very tranquil atmosphere. Save your money and shop here, the stalls are well priced whatever other reviewers say. Yes, it is a little grubby but hey we're in India, you need to look beyond that. The Harbour Hotel is here too and I would have stopped off here for a drink if I'd had more time.
The not to be missed sight in Fort Cochin

You can tell why people are pleased to get here! Although you cant swim in the sea it's a very soothing sight, the fishing nets are majestic and an icon of the area and the place has a lively fish market where you can buy fish and get it freshly cooked. There are a few sellers too. If you like the Indian paintings there's a man who sells these, he paints them perhaps but the mini postcard paintings are lovely and 200 - 300 r.
Plenty of lovely looking places to eat and drink too.

It is more for the locals to fleece the tourists. Nothing special. Place is too crowded, not well kept & lack any unique attraction. Best to avoid this place

The beach itself would have been beautiful if it was clean. It's dirty and not what you expect from a tourist attraction.

Fort Kochi beach is right behind the Dutch cemetery. The one from which you can see the Chinese fishing nets is called Mahatma Gandhi beach on maps. If you however plan to spend some time on Fort Kochi beach... well, I suggest you go elsewhere. In August it was rubbish and the cows freely roamed around the beach.
