Turned right as we got off the ferry from Cochin and within a few minutes arrived at this cafe. Stopped for a drink - ginger lemonade - lovely. Also used the loo which was very clean.

Found this place and really enjoyed the food especially Mint Lemonade, probably the best I ever had. Its a simple sit out place with a simple menu. Order omlette, sandwich, drinks or dessert you wont be disappointed.

After trying several other restaurants in the fort I was incredibly disappointed with the cuisine. In general the food in Fort Cochin is incredibly overpriced (small portions) and not good at all (one place served me mashed potatoes that looked like grey soupy porridge!). Luckily I found Pepper House Café where the food is always fantastic! I ended up only eating at this restaurant because the food was so good which I'd call Indian fusion cuisine where the chef combines the best of India with the best of Western food. I tried carrot and ginger soup with toast and homemade hummus (divine!) and fresh fish coated in dahl and spices with tapioca fries and a delicious fruity salsa. The fresh carrot juice is also very good (ask them to put a squeeze of lime in it to make it extra nice) and they have a good selection of homemade cakes. The restaurant has a lovely garden setting overlooking the water in a disused historic building. Incredibly the prices are also low so all in all the perfect place to spend a relaxing meal!

Located just few minutes walk from the fort kochi bus stand on the bazaar road, pepper house cafe has a great but unutilized potential due to its location and space. it could very well be convered into a heritage house as it has an amazing space area and good view of the sea. but as of now, its only the restaurant that is operational. food is good with a variety of menu items to choose from. worth visiting at least.

We liked the food so much that we came back here three times and so managed to sample a lot of things on the menu. Everything we tasted was delicious and well presented and the staff were really attentive. The cafe was really nice - set in the courtyard of a colonial building on the waterfront.
