“Pepper House Cafe, a foody's treasure in Fort Kochi”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Stepping off the ferry at Fort Kochi Ferry and turning right on the road, after 300 meter this lovely haven of fresh food according to international standards. I am very happy eating curries and talis for months on end, but to be able to eat fresh veggies and salads like Pepper House's beetroot salad and their fresh fruit salad was just lovely ! Fresh juices, great coffee, friendly and professional service in a restored waterfront warehouse. Includes an interesting bookshop. Great place to hang out basically all morning or all afternoon reading up, enjoying the relaxed athmosphere and delicious foods and drinks.

“Fabulous coolers!”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

We found the Pepper House while we were walking the Biennale route in February. It is beautiful. The drinks are great (especially the cucumber and mint) and the cafe is a very special addition to the stops en route to Mattancherry from the harbour.

“Great Place To Be”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

The Pepper House is one of the venues of the on-going Kochi-Muziris Biennale. A typical lake-side warehouse with a central quadrangle Pepper House has been renovated into one of the most charming properties along the Bazar Road. Its redolent with history. Its well-lit and ventilated. The front hall along the entrance has been converted into a gallery space and cafe. The cafe has a view of the street outside. It spills out at the back along the central quadrangle going one a choice to sit in the shaded open. I have been to the Biennale twice and have stopped at the cafe locted conveniently in the centre of all the Biennale locations for numerous cups of chai, coffee and bites of cake. The cakes are not wrongly labelled muffins but well-baked fare come in many flavours. The cafe's menu is quite modest yet complete. For lunch one of my favourite is the Fish Provençal. The prices are modest for the quality and the size of portions of the food. The ambience is great. The decor is stripped down bare but very very international. I hope they don't do anything to decorate or do up the place. One really feels privileged to be part of history sitting in the Pepper House having great meals.

“Pepper Cafe New To Cochin”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

The Pepper Café, so named since it is located in a former spice warehouse being used temporarily as one of the Cochin Art Biennale exhibit sites, is a new addition to the café/restaurant scene in Cochin. It’s a bit out of the way, at one end of the Art Biennale trek, housed in a gorgeously renovated space with a small but varied menu. Breakfast items include such things porridge, French Toast and omelets; lunch includes eggplant panini, and roast beef sandwiches; while dinner items range from such fare as Shepherd’s pie, fish and chips and chicken parmigian. There are other items as well. Food is quite good, service very friendly and attentive and it’s relatively inexpensive- breakfast pancakes are $2.35 USD . The dill potato salad is excellent as is their coffee and a variety of teas and fresh fruit juices. As I mentioned it is a bit out of the way but only about half a kilometer beyond the Aspenwall exhibit which is the largest of the Art Biennale sites and it has some decent artwork in the remainder of the building as well. It’s worth a visit.
