Flew in early morning from Doha, Qatar and found the car arrange by Eight Bastion waiting for me at the airport. The drive from Kochi International Airport was long but comfortable. Having spent the whole night at the airport and flight; I was hoping to go to bed right away.
Checking in was quick and I was in my room in a jiffy. Day was just breaking and though tired; I decided to go for a walk and check out the place. This was the start of my holiday romance with Eight Bastion & Kochi.
I will start with the service this hotel has which was flawless. Just a call or a note at the front desk and it was done. I am impressed by the food quality and the variety of food served at the in-house restaurant “East Indies”. Because it was Ramadan and I was fasting; the kitchen staff took extra care to prepare food for my Iftar and Sehri (Suhoor). This restaurant is famous for its sea food specialty.
The rooms are simple and very elegantly decorated. There is nothing loud about this hotel. Being there gives you the feeling of peace and serenity. My room was on the 2nd floor with a balcony facing the pool. This is the probable the cutest pool I have ever seen in my life.
The bathroom was huge; almost as big as my room. It has a tub with beautiful inlay of tiles and a rain shower. The shower area has wooded floors and the water would just pass between the wooded planks. This is a great concept which ensured no water flooding in the shower area.
No words can express what I experienced during my stay at this hotel. I visited this hotel with some friends and promise to be back again very soon in the coming future with my family, Insha Allah.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are the best.

Awesome Service!! Extremely Courteous staff. Extremely close to Vasco De Gama's first gravesite and Church.

Only issue is that the food in the restaurant is extremely skewed toward western tastes. Not many true Indian options available.

Great stay!

Room Tip: Room 204 was nice with a balcony overlooking the pool.

Comfortable place for families and couples. Super location, most charming part of the city with designer stores and chinese fishing nets a sneeze away.

Great food, must try the appams and fish curry. Biryani highly recommended.

Stayed here with kids during recent kerala trip. The hotel is well located in the heart of fort cochin. Focused on the naval history of the city, the ambience is quite unique. Rooms are modern, elegant and spacious with no TV which made it easier to get the kids out for historical sightseeing.

The service quality is what sets this place apart. The chef obliged regularly by making local dishes not on menu and taught the recipe too. And it was probably the best fusiin food we had in this trip. Support staff is very responsive and goes out of their way to make you feel at home.

A nice little touch is the 2 hour auto rickshaw tour of fort cochin with the driver guide for just $10.

Great little place to stay a few nights while getting in and out of kerala - gods own country! The experience is highly recommended.

My wife and I had a great stay at Eight Bastion. Perfect location in the heart of Fort Kochi, the room was cozy and very well decorated, very good service, but the best was the excelent food at the hotel's restaurant.

We were so looking forward to our visit to Kochi this monsoon and came back asking for more and a promise to return next year - All thanks to our wonderful experience at Eighth Bastion. Located at Fort Kochi ,this beautiful boutique hotel is an excellent mix of Dutch history, beauty and comfort. It is a walkable distance to St. Francis church, an art gallery and the beach. The lobby hosts many paintings, maps and miniature replicas of warships that add to the charm of the hotel in a city with a glorious historical past. The rooms are tastefully designed and were very comfortable- would also like to add that the bathrooms were no less. Watching it rain in the morning from the balcony into their beautiful courtyard was extremely calming. The sea-food was excellent and the staff there was really friendly and helpful. They also organised a city tour for us in a tuk-tuk which was great fun. Got back all refreshed and happy :)

I arrived at Eighth Bastion a few days before I was supposed to go to a wedding at another resort a few hours away. It was an amazing experience - the staff was super attentive. The hotel is brand new, with modern & luxurious yet earthy finishes (rain showers), along with authentic touches of the Dutch colonial occupation.

For me, one of the best features of the hotel was robust wifi - I could do work from my balcony, which had views of the beach! The beds were also some of the best I've ever slept on. Even though I did work, it was the most relaxing weeks I've ever had.

To top it all off, the food at the East Indies restaurant, which features Indian fusion, was amazing. Some of my top recommendations:

-Creme Brulee french toast
-Dosa (ask for a fried egg with it)
-Eggplant & Mushroom Redang

In fact, when I went to the other high-end resort hotel for the wedding, I missed a lot of the features (the incredible beds, indoor high-end bathrooms, hand-held showers, wifi, Indian fusion, etc.). I will definitely be going back and can't wait to bring others along!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a room with a balcony facing the beach!
