This hotel is in a very nice area, although far from the new city. This property has a boat trip (free) at the end of the day that is very good. The staff is nice, breakfast excellent, and the pool, restaurant very good.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the water and excelletnt

We chose this hotel to stay in on our last night in India. Wish we had booked more nights here as it is a fantastic hotel, with spacious well-laid out grounds and gardens, an outside restaurant by the waterfront, and it is ideally situated for exploring the islands of Cochin. There were plenty of staff around, all keen to look after us well. We had one of the most comfortable rooms of our holiday with good views over the water. Well equipped with everything we needed but we would have preferred a walk-in shower instead of the bath. We enjoyed well-made cocktails in the hotel bar and had 3 restaurants to choose from. We chose the Chinese one and received good service. A highly recommended place to stay.

Room Tip: This is a multi-storey hotel. Choose an outer corner room on any floor - it comes with two windows overlooking the water in different directions.

We arrived at the hotel after a gruelling trip from London via Dubai. We were 18 hours late and Emirates had lost our luggage. I was almost in tears when we checked in at 6am . The hotel could not have been better. Our star was Sunil at reception. He found us spare clothes and hats and gave us lovely tolietries and express cleaning of our clothes. Best of all, he took over the whole business of tracking down our bags with Emirates. We were able to relax and enjoy the hotel. The stress of the journey melted away in the gorgeous grounds and swimming pool. We loved the sunset cruise and our massages in the spa.
Nothing was a problem. A staff member was sent into the city to arrange a top up for our mobile phone and the CyberButler (!) obtained chargers for us.
By the end of our second day we had both cases safely delivered and had the best meal of our entire trip in the Rice Boat restaurant.
We felt looked after like family. The hotel has an air of understated luxury and style. We felt soothed and invigorated. Food is excellent and the decor stylish.
Our ground floor heritage room was quiet and comfortable. We explored Cochin via the cheap local ferry and tuk-tuks. Our only regret was losing our first whole day due to our travel delays.
You will not go wrong with the Taj as your choice. We spoke to several people on our travels who were disappointed with Malabar House and Brunton Boatyard and we felt we had chosen well. Thank you Taj Malabar and especially Sunil who was our hero.

I'm very late reviewing this place but would really like to thank the Taj staff, led by the Guest Relationship Manager Mr Panicker, for making our 4 day stay relaxed & perfect in every way. First of all it's a small but beautiful property on Willingdon island. The location is a bit away for people who want to sight see & go into Cochin town or Matancherry but it's just a taxi or boat ride away. For a relaxed stay in beautiful environs,it's lovely !
From the minute we stepped in the warmth & hospitality with which we were greeted stayed with us till they saw us off. Chef Nobu even packed us some sandwiches to take with us to the airport. Food overall was good - we tried all the restaurants.
We enjoyed the spa & the stunning infinity pool. I liked the traditional decor of the property as well.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for the much needed R & R :)

Room Tip: In the tower wing, higher the floor the better sea view, In the heritage wing the corner rooms.

Our family chose this hotel to begin our family trip to Kerala. Needless to say, WOW. This was an amazing experience. I cannot stress how amazing the customer service here was. These people treat you better than family. From the amazing welcome drink as soon as you enter and check in, to walking you up to your rooms, to smiling people at every turn and corner, to each and every restaurant and their attention to detail, to the chefs coming out to see how your food was, to the free cruise, free snacks and food, to the well-thought out tours and caring for your every need -- this hotel has it all covered. There is nothing they can't do for you and they do it with every bit of joy and smiles. There is no other place in Kochin that we could think of ever staying at ever again other than here. One morning, as we set out for a day trip, the waiter at breakfast spent about 20 minutes writing for us in detail all the places to see - not just in Kochin but in Kerala as well - he did this because hospitality was in his blood and you could tell every bit of it. They take joy in your happiness so you will come back, and it worked for us. And the breakfast was heavenly. The only suggestion I'd have for them is to find a better avenue/route for guests to go to the boat that taxis to other area of Kochin -- the walk there is very rough terrain and quite long. Maybe a free car would be nicer touch.

Room Tip: Sunset view is great but if you plan on being outdoors, probably not needed.
