“Perfect spot to enjoy Fort Kochi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Delight is truly an amazing and friendly location if you're looking at exploring Fort Kochi. All the sites are in walking distance. The house is really well decorated and the rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfasts are delicious and give you the opportunity to meet with fellow travellers. David is really helpful in organizing trips, Khatakali shows or showing you the best place for ayurvedic massages.
A very nice place to stay for a few days!

David is extremely helpful and very efficient at arranging local tours and venues. His wife Flowery is charming too. We shall recommend staying there to any of our friends wishing to visit this particularly interesting part of Kerala. Its location is perfect being in the centre of Fort Cochin but in a quiet street.

We found this wonderful place as we strolled past the parade ground and were attracted by Delight's beautiful and painstakingly maintained garden. We spent 3 wonderful days here over New Year. We were lucky to get in as this is a justifiably popular place. The location is perfect as only a short stroll or Auto rickshaw ride away from the Chinese nets and with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. It is a lovely, peaceful location. Our rooms were basic but very comfortable with plenty of hot water and very clean. Breakfasts were excellent and served around a huge dining table in David and Flowery's large dining room. The house itself is originally Portuguese and over 200 yrs old. It has been beautifully and tastefully restored. Above all this Homestay has a warm and friendly feeling and we would highly recommend it. We would certainly stay here again! Steve, Celia & Sindhu

Room Tip: Upper floor with a view over the Parade Ground

We loved every minute of our stay with David and Flowery at Delight Homestay. The reviews seem to say the same lovely things about this place and they are all quite true. The location is just perfect, Cochin is a hectic little town and the wrong end of a short street can make all the difference. Overlooking the old colonial parade ground with several games of (street) cricket going it couldn't be better placed. Literally 5 minutes in a hair-raising Auto-Rickshaw gets you to all main sights and shops in Mattancherry.
Kerala is such a welcoming friendly place to visit, nowhere more so than here, we will be back for sure, if we can get in!

Room Tip: If it's available the room overlooking the parade ground is gorgeous.

We were recommended Delight Homestay by friends who had stayed there on two previous occasions and were pleased that we chose it. David and Flowery were excellent hosts and our room was comfortable and very clean. We enjoyed chatting to other guests at breakfast time and swapping experiences and suggestions of places to visit. The location is great being within walking distance of the main attractions. It is a particularly good time to visit Fort Cochin at the moment as the first Indian Biennale is hosted there. After a very pleasant 5 day stay, David helped us to arrange a tour for our final 3 days in India, taking in the Kerala Backwaters, Periyar Reserve and Munnar. He recommended a driver, Wilson, who has a fabulous Ambassador car that we loved. Wilson couldn't have been more helpful and suggested places to stay and restaurants to eat in, all of which we were very happy with. He even got up at 1 am to park the Ambassador in the queue for entry to the Periyar Reserve so we could arrive early enough to get a ticket for the busy boat trip. Once in the Reserve he ran to the ticket office to ensure we had a good spot in the queue!
We felt thoroughly at home at Delight and it was a great finish to our 5 week tour of Incredible India!

This is really a lovely, romantic guesthouse in a two hundred year old Portuguese villa. Everything is well maintained and very clean. We had a spacious, cosy room and breakfast was served in the family dining room, with an impressive portuguese reception room beside.
We arrived at 5.00 a.m and were welcomed by a security guard, who showed us to our rooms immediately, which we really appreciated , as this is most unusual for guesthouses in India. Normally we were asked to show up not before 8 o'clock. David the owner, is very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. He organised a reasonable backwater tour and a stunning Katakali performance for us. In all aspects a very pleasant stay.
