Just walking about town we wandered in and we loved the food, service and wonderful view! We will be back for a second meal!

After a long day walking about Kochi, this was a heartwarming dinner to sit down to. With tables by the sea, the breeze and candle lights, we could only hope for top notch cuisine. Going for the local Malayalee dishes, it was not a disappointment at all. Great place to spend your evening!
Just be careful not to sit too close to the edge of the "jetty". The waves get pretty strong when boats pass by.
We dined here as we were staying in the hotel and would like to start by saying the food is Delicious.....VERY tasty indeed.
The thing that lets it down is the service. The staff are VERY friendly and polite but they do not seem to communicate. Every time we dined, as we had to have breakfast here, we constantly had to ask over and over again for things that we had ordered already. Every time we dined the main courses arrived at our table before our starters were finished/cleared away. Only to be met by the waiter just standing there staring making us move our own plates away....this is pretty poor for this standard of hotel.
Also the wine list has 7 white wines on it.....only 2 were available.....note to management....ditch the wine list and train your staff on service styles as they have it with the friendliness.
After we'd voiced disappointment at the blandness of some of the food we'd tried at more expensive eateries, one of the young gentlemen working at our hotel very strongly recommended we try Fort House. Is it great authentic food? Yes, it is. Is it good? Yes, it's the best restaurant in Kochi. You have a new girlfriend, would you take her there to impress her? Yes, I would.
We asked for a nice table when reserving, and were seated right by the waterfront at the end of the lovely pier, giving us a great view of the fish cutters heading out to sea. Our waiter was very friendly and informative, and the menu was varied and tasty-looking. The food, when it arrived, did it justice; it was obviously prepared with a lot of care and fresh, top quality ingredients, justifying the long wait time (which the menu explicitly warned us about). We could tell nothing was ready-made - very, very good eats at a great price.
Cafe by the water side has excellent views of the harbour. The hotel has a rustic earthy ambience , wish it served some speciality cuisine . This is a place you would love to come back again if and only if it had better food.
