“A holiday to India would be incomplete without doing the kerala life tour”

My friend and I wanted to get away from the tourist traps in the city, and be surrounded by history. Lijo was very flexible with our schedule and wishes for the day. We saw Hindu marriages, elephants… if you want to experience the local life of cochin book his tour, and get a rare local perspective of cochin, and he made sure to check off everything on our list! There were also lots of pleasant surprises... backwater tour, handloom weaving center, excavation site, very old temples, and most of all- being in the company of such a knowledgeable and friendly guy. He answered our many questions about the local plants, animals, life, people, culture, politics, and history! Thank you lijo for an unforgettable experience!!!

“Great Day in Cochin, India”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2012

We loved our day in Cochin... The Jewish Heritage trip is more than just visiting old temples- our guide took is to a local festival where we seemed to become the attraction- such lovely and warm people greeted us- the elephants were beautifully "dressed", great local music playing- and it was such a fantastic experience. We had a wonderful lunch at a fabulous resort and then finished off our tour visiting the oldest synagogue in Cochin. We also had a boat ride in the backwaters, visited a weaving center, took a ferry... I would recommend this day trip to anybody looking to experience the most fabulous day in Cochin. We had an air conditioned van and a driver along with our guide. Our guide was the best, patient, spoke fluent English, took great care of us , and was proud and eager to show us his city. Thank you to Jose Lito and for the adorable elephant you gave us.

“fabulous day in Cochin, India”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2012

We were picked up at our cruise ship by our guide Jose Lito and, along with a professional driver, spent the day touring not only the old synagogues of Cochin, but went to a local festival, took a boat ride on the backwaters, took the ferry, had a great lunch, saw a local weaving mill and spent a lovely day touring around.. I'd recommend this trip to anybody wanting to experience Cochin at it's finest. And, thanks "Joe" for the adorable elephant - ...

“Interesting look into the history of the area”

Great day out, and interesting look at the overall history of the area. We saw a number of synagogues but also now have a better understanding of the influence of the Jewish people on this area.

“Jewish Heritage Tour was great! Highly recommended.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2012

Decided to go on the tour with Jo instead of the big tour companies since it was very clear after email exchange that he was the only one who knew what he was talking about when it comes to all the Jewish history in and around Kochi. We were not disappointed as Jo took care of all arrangements and led us around to visit all of the historical synagogues in the area of Kochi. He has extensive knowledge of the history of the area and is also very up to date regarding ongoing activities to refurbish some of the sites. He also had the patience to conduct the entire tour with us, who were traveling with our one year old son!

The highlight of our trip was meeting with Babu in the Ernakulum synagogue and hearing about the Jewish community there first hand.
