If you are hungry at noon and happens to be in Kochi, a lunch at Grand Hotel, situated on M.G.Road, almost a K.M away from the Ernakulam Jn. Railway station, can boldly be recommended. I, as a Kochinite have been enjoying their lunch, once in a while; during the past two three decades. The food they serve for lunch is always fresh and variety is also assured. Anybody who likes to have authentic Kerala lunch can enjoy it here. A high light is their Karimeen Pollichathu. A popular fish (Black Spot) cooked in traditional gravy, wrapped up in banana leaves goes well with rice, Puttu (a kind of steamed rice cake with grounded coconut), bread, appam, pathiri, etc. It is a bit hot too. Other fish varieties are also available. A lunch with karimeen Pollichathu is the main attraction and it is sumptuous, too; especially with a chilled beer. Various Biriyanis served are also good. I wo'nt recommend any chicken / mutton items. The ambiance though is good, please do not expect good service.. Lunch time is very busy and need to wait patiently to get an entry in to the restaurant. The pricing is reasonable.
