My wife and I spent three wonderful nights at Ben's place, and another at an associated place in Munnar, which Ben laid on. We had a wonderful time - a perfect tonic to life in the daily hustle and bustle of a commercial centre. The location was idyllic, especially with the prawn farms on the (accessible) nearby island. Although we were close to the city, it felt like we were miles from anywhere, in splendid isolation. But what really made the difference was the warmth and hospitality of Benny, his wife Anju and the rest of the family. We were also extremely well fed, having some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted (and I've had a lot!) courtesy of Anju's wonderful home-cooking. It was a near-perfect holiday and we'd go again in a heartbeat. Thanks and fond best wishes to Benny and family.

This time, on my way back to Delhi I was thinking of booking an Airport hotel for the night. But on doing a quick check on tripadvisor I found Bens homestay. And this has been a great discovery in Kochi. Bens homestay transposes one from maddening city, but at the same time it is so close to the Kochi city and airport. The property is situated on one of the islands formed in the backwaters. Recommend that one take help from Benny for your travel to the property from Airport. Once we were there it was post card location. Villa was located right there on the banks of the back water. We could see Chinese fishing nets, boats, fishing activity in the backwaters from the villa. We were introduced to the family and were served with delicious Kerala specialities -Karimeen (caught from the backwaters) & prawns (from their farm). Only regret is that we could not take the boat trip Benny promised because of lack of time. Sure next time. Benny, Anju and family took care of us and there was no need to ask for anything. It seemed that they could sense and help us. Thanks Benny, looking forward to our next trip

Thank you Ben, Anju and the whole family for an incredible trip! Ben organized 3 nights and 4 days for our group from Canada in March 2013. He did an amazing job, taking care of every detail. We were his largest group to date and he accommodated us in the lovely house, cottage and in two neighbouring houses. He organized visits to local projects and communities, and never left our side. The traditional Kerala cuisine at the house was amazing, and the family and staff went well above any expectations we had. The outdoor shower in the cottage, sublime. I would not hesitate to recommend Ben and his wisdom about the area and his knowledge about how to share it all well. The stay will be unforgettable. Thanks!

I stayed at Ben's with a group of 11 which was the largest group they have accomodated but it was a wonderful experience. Ben and his wife, Anju, went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and to meet our needs. They were both highly attentive, the food was delicious with variety , accomodation was very comfortable. I don't hesitate to recommend Ben's to anyone interested in the area.

Ben picked us up from Alleppey is his comfortable car. From the moment we met him, we knew we would love staying with him.

Its a beautiful property in a small village - Ben, his wife Anju, kids and lovely staff all add a warmth to this clean, charming property.

We were included in a feast at his church, taken to a prawn farm, given his scooter to use, helped his neighbour with chinese fishing and treated like genuine friends. Nothing was too much trouble.

The food is amazing thanks to Anju and her team.

Ben is a gentleman who is community minded and obviously goes out of his way to make his village a beautiful place.

I cannot recommend highly enough.

We arrived very late at Ben's to find him waiting up to welcome us. Our upstairs room was large and clean and overlooked the Kochi backwaters. Anju and her staff cooked lovely meals and Ben arranged a boat trip for us as well as a tour of rice paddies and his aquaculture project. We learned a lot about the local community from him. A great spot for a break from the hectic Indian pace of life with a wonderful and welcoming family. Sorry we were unable to call in before we left Ben - next time :)

Room Tip: Although Ben's also has a detached villa, we found the large rooms in the main house more than a...
