The Killians Boutique Hotel
Ranked #65 of 222 Hotels in Kochi (Cochin)
Reviewed February 9, 2013

This was a nice enough hotel in a very convenient, but not very attractive location - good view of bus station, if you're into that sort of thing. Big clean room and wifi near the door. Breakfast was pretty lacklustre. Poor service and no clean place settings when we arrived. Didn't bother with an evening meal, since the were other good restaurants nearby (Oceanus).
Killians cost more than most of our other hotels but wasn't as good.
We wouldn't stay again, and wish we'd tried earlier to book our 1st choice, the Old Harbour.

I stayed at Killians Boutique with a tour group and we all were quite pleased with the hotel. It's in a great location...just steps from the waterfront. Despite being in the middle of things, it's pretty quiet (with the exception of some nearby booming fireworks one night). The staff is friendly and responsive. I had an exceptionally large room/bathroom (#216) - ask for it if you don't mind twin beds. Very clean; beds are a bit firm. Breakfast was fine - nothing special but included all the basics. WiFi is free but a bit dodgy and only available in the public areas.

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel 2 nights in January 2013 and I have to be honest. I work in a hotel and have stayed in many hotels across the globe but this took the price for best stay so far. The room are spacious and clean with all the things needed in a design mix of contemporary and colonial style.
The food in their restaurant Lilly Grace (named after the owners grand daughter) was great and at a very good cost compared with the quality.
The service was extremely friendly and welcoming with the fantastic Indian openness.
It is located perfectly close to all the sights and the reception staff have some good contacts to tuctuc drivers that are also great tour guides and at very reasonable prices.
In truth a can not think of a single negative thing to say about my stay here at The Killian Boutique Hotel.
I am definatly coming back here next time I am in Cochin.

The hotel is not really a boutique hotel if applying the terminology correctly but it is clean, comfortable and very good value for money. The location is within a minute of the Chinese fishing nets and a two minute ride by auto rickshaw to the other main attractions.

The restaurant was very good and breakfast was more than adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful and good at organising taxis, etc.

The pool is lovely to dip into at the end of a day of sightseeing.

Fort Kochi is rapidly being consumed by neon advertising signs, billboards and stalls/shops selling water and drinks. We make no crticism of the town taking advantage of tourism and so on but the authorities need to look carefully at the rapid erosion of the fabric of the once beautiful town or otherwise risk losing the very attraction from which they make money. We would say to anyone considering visting that it is a disappointing experience if you expect it to live up to the guide book descriptions but otherwise it is worth a day or two visit.

The hotel is in a great location to all the tourist sites. The rooms are large and spacious although a bit dark. The staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was ok. Needed to chase up the kitchen staff as they seemed to go missing though. The quirky thing that this hotel has- is the lift. The aircon comes on full blast when the lift door closes.

This is a medium budget hotel. After having travelled the superb budget hotels in Northern India, this hotel was quite basic.
Positive: Big rooms with just the minimum of comfort you require if you are travelling a lot. To be fair, we didn’t miss anything. Clean and refreshing pool; hotel and restaurant were very clean. Complimentary Internet – it’s highly appreciated! Price-/performance is fine, but no luxury at all!
Service people are all nice and supportive, but perform on medium level. We asked for sealed water for teeth brushing, we got non-sealed bottles. Our bed was squeaking.
The surrounding of the hotel was very crowded on a Sunday and lots of waste was around the area outside the hotel. Actually we are happy to start our backwaters tour tomorrow – we hope to find a cleaner and more relaxing surrounding.

Nice large rooms, well located and clean. The staff very helpful with transport and willing to provide a packed breakfast as we needed to be up very early for a flight. Free wifi only near the pool, but ran very quickly.
