Noah's Ark Homestay
Ranked #33 of 459 Kochi (Cochin) B&B and Inns
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We stayed a total of 8 days at Noah's Ark, at the beginning and end of our holiday. Diana's welcome started long before we arrived in India, with emails giving lots of useful information.

We had the large room with balcony and were very comfortable. The whole place is spotless and the breakfasts fantastic. Diana gave us an English breakfast and then asked if we would like to try a Keralan one, which we did of course - so we had 2 breakfasts every morning!

She arranged taxis for a better price than we could get and got us front row seats for the Kathakali performance.

We couldn't have been made more welcome and would have no hesitation in highly recommending Noah's Ark.

Noah's Ark is a large family home situated in a quiet road, close to
Fort Kochi's main attractions. We had room1, which has a shady
balcony,TV, fridge, fans and A/C. The room was very clean and of a good
size. The bathroom was quite small but the shower and hot water worked
well. It had a slightly annoying step which was an obstacle for toes
in the night! if I had a small criticism of the room it was that the
mattress was quite hard (and I generally like a hard mattress), we
slept ok but both felt a little stiff in the morning)

Breakfast was served downstairs in an atrium style space and was home
made and tasty.

Dianne the owner speaks good English, responded to emails quickly and
was very helpful. She arranged transfers to and from the airport and
can provide maps and info on Kochi attractions.

Fort Kochi has a nice smalltown feel and a memory i'll take from
Noah's Ark is of eating breakfast early on a Sunday morning, listening
to the lovely sounds of the congregation of the church across the
road, drifting in on the warm breeze.

I can definitely recommend Noah's Ark if you want to stay in Kochi in
a central, yet quiet location and don't want to stay in one of the big
hotels like the Old Harbour.

Five minute walk from the centre of Cochin, on quite a busy road, but set back and with double glazing, so we slept very well. Diana is a good host, providing information if requested ( she gave us the name and directions of a shop in Ernakulum where we could buy quality Indian cooking equipment), but never invaded our privacy. Her breakfasts each morning were lovely - we had the Keralan dishes - different ones each day - but western options were availalble if required.

The room we had was large with a terrace with table and chairs. It had two ceiling fans and a very good air conditioning system. The bed was big and very comfortable. Everything was very clean.Free wi-fi or a computer on the landing was for everyone to use.

Room Tip: All looked good.

Jerry and Diana go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home in their lovely house. We were very comfortable with the room which was exceptionally clean. The location is perfect, close walk to the centre and to the fishing nets. Don't look any further, stay here!

We stayed here in January 2013. Noah's Ark is an excellent homestay. Diana gave us such a nice welcome and made a real effort to make sure that we had a nice stay. Our room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was excellent. I also liked that fact that she was happy to organise tours/taxis etc but was never pushing for us to do so. We changed our plans at quite short notice and Diana was extremely quick to respond to my questions and sort everything out for us. Thank you!

Room Tip: We got the triple room with balcony on double occupancy which was very spacious.

Diane and the captain was just amazing. We could organize everything with them. The breakfast was very nice too... Their home in the middle of the city and we were felling like home. The best thing was that we had our privacy too.
I recomended this home stay for everybody.
Thanks for everything....

Diana and Jerry are very nice hosts. They were friendly and hospitable, helped us to arrange a pick up from the airport. Breakfast was delicious, a different Indian dish everyday besides eggs, fruits, coffee or tea. Location was good, away from the main busy street, and walking distance to Chinese fishing nets, princess streets etc. Diana was helpful with recommendations on what to do and where to eat.

What tops the entire experience with them was us turning up unexpectedly at their homestay on the 16th jan. Was back in Kochi to catch my flight back to Singapore at 1am on the 17th, and we reached Kochi at abt 3pm after travelling from Munnar. Not knowing what to do with our bags without lugging them around Fort Kochi for the next few hours, we went to their homestay to ask if we could leave our bags there. They happily agreed to our request and even allowed us to rest in their living area. Diana even helped arrange with the airport drop off. Even after you check out, they still remember you.

Am very pleased and touched by their actions. Thanks alot Diana and Jerry for everything :)

Cheers
Mellissa, Singapore
