lot of privacy.like hotels which are full of character. like the other reviews below each room is different and big. plus you will never feel the place being crowded.
we were disappointed with the menu first but had a chance to interact with the chef mahesh. we did have our dinners here which were made to order strictly off the menu. had some excellent kerala prawns fish crab lobster and jumbo prawns alll of them prepared differently. a well trained chef in italian and french cuisine as well. he made an excellent dry fruit and nougat hand made ice cream.food is value for money considerng shacks nearby charging you the same.
room was excellent with an entire corridor to our selves

This property is in an amazing location right in front of the sea side promenade and very close to the major sight seeing locations. The rooms are excellent with each room having such unique pieces of furniture and history that you can spend hours just clicking pictures of them. The property has an amazing pool, good library. What was lacking was TVs in the room and a more elaborate restaurant menu especially for veggies.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have too many windows and everytime you need to change it can be an effort. Ensure...

The Tower House is in an excellent location for the centre of Cochin and seafront . The service is excellent and the rooms are massive and well spread out. I wish I could have been there when it was in its heyday. Breakfast was very good. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

we stayed here for 4 nights and it is such a lovely place. They call it the hotel that's not a hotel and that's because you can't quite put a label on it. We had a chance to look around in all the ten rooms and we could have stayed in any of them. the building, pool, garden and rooms are very stylish and you just don't want to leave. we had a ground floor room which has an extra bed in it and as we have two small children they put another mattress on the floor. the room had french doors opening on to the garden and pool and they served us breakfast just outside the french doors overlooking the garden. The Tower house is a very relaxing place, very clean and the location is also perfect. it's right on the coast by the chinese fishing nets and near lots of site.

Room Tip: the large suite on the first floor is unbeleavable. it's the size of 3 rooms in a normal hotel.

We spent three nights here during the Keralan festival of Onan for which the hotel made a beautiful flower display in the hallway. The location was fantastic - right across the square from the Chinese fishing nets and close to plenty of great places to eat. We felt safe walking around nearby and enjoyed the area. Though some suites were very spacious, our room (though with a fantastic view out the front) was rather small and pokey. Also, the breakfast was rather poor with little choice and low quality. On two mornings we ate outside where the food was plagued by flies which made us uncomfortable about eating it. The laptop provided for guests was very old and with slow internet connection. It also turned itself off while I was using it - very frustrating! The staff were helpful though and we enjoyed Cochin.

Room Tip: Rooms out the front have a nice view but are small for two people.

We booked the Suite room for 4 adults as their reservation agent confirmed that there were two queen-size beds and the room was large enough for 4 adults. However once we opened the door, right away we understood that it would be tight, so we asked for an additional bed to be brought in, which after some negotiation we managed to receive free of charge. So beside the small "double" beds, the room was very nice with furniture matching the historic feel of the house itself. The bathroom was large, and provided enough hot water for all of us. The garden was peaceful, and the swimming pool most welcome to refresh. However the breakfast was terrible, not at all in line with the expectations one has from the Neemrana's. The location could not be any better, right across from the square where the Chinese nests are in Fort Cochin. Staff was helpful to book backwater tours. So over all positive experience, but improvements need to be done regarding breakfast in order to match the Neemrana's name!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Tower House sits facing the Chinese fishing nets, marking the spot of a 17th century light house which has given it the name. Cannon balls once fired out from its thick bastion-walls. This scallop-walled twin-house looks rather like a ship and indeed, boats were brought in on high tide and parked downstairs in its stable and dry dock! Since 1982, it is owned by Peirce Leslie. The character of The Tower House lies in its unpretentious yet proud bearing, almost grandfather like, it sits looking out over the sea, a spirit of adventure surrounds it even today, taking one back to stories of high seas told and retold over centuries. Stately colonial pillars hold up its vast, high-ceilinged halls. The generous arched doors welcoming one to step in to another world where time stretches, pauses to watch the sun set, and then moves ever so lightly towards dawn. Yes it’s the magic of spaces that have seen more history than we will ever see, spaces that we know will still be there to delight those who come long after us. The furniture is an eclectic mix with no attempt to recreate rooms of any one era or type because the residential structure was added on to. It’s the light pouring in through the windows, skylights and the vastness of the indoor spaces that make for an unforgettable experience. Most of the rooms have large four poster beds, and bathrooms that happily accommodate large tubs. The windows have views of the trees or the sea depending on where they are located. Restored to be compatible with present-day needs while maintaining its structural integrity, it reflects different periods rather than artificially being faithful to any single one. It takes you back in time, as moods and memories woven together create a fabric that is strong but sits ever so lightly. The above uncompromising principles of practical use of material and form dictated The Tower House renovation too and its adherence to these very values of being honest to the time we live in while respecting the past that has set new standards in heritage tourism. Discover the old world charm where, sailors, travellers, traders, planters feasted and danced under chandeliers, suspended from high wooden ceilings. ... more   less
