“Loved the Tea Bungalow”
Reviewed March 22, 2010

We fell in love with the Tea Bungalow as soon as we entered through the gates. The property has an wonderfull intamacy and welcoming atmosphere. The property has been sympathetically and sucessfully restored, the room we stayed in"Mombasa" was very well equipped, the air conditioning was excellent and we realy appreciated the "garden shower". We loved the pool in the secluded but sunny courtyard and we realy enjoyed the dinner we had one evening in the garden courtyard. The staff were friendly and helpfull and the location is within an easy stroll of the waterfront, shops and restuarants. We realy enjoyed our stay at the Tea Bungalow and have no hesitation in reccommending it to other travellers.

We stayed here as our end to our trip through Kerala. The rooms are named after places and we stayed in Goa. A wonderful bathroom and good sized bedroom with a digital space air-conditioning and all mod cons. The downside of the room is that it was off the dining room and by the pool terrace. It was therefore noisy through guests eating and the music and bar until 11.00 pm. I would recommend a room away from this area. The pool is small and functional but was not open during our stay. The food and service were excellent. You are ideally placed for old fort cochin. It is about half an hour from the main centre.

Stayed for 3 then 4 nights in Mauritious and Goa - room names. Make sure you check out as many rooms as you can just for curiosity - they are all lovely and different. Staff are really attentive to detail. Beds are comfy. Breakfasts good. The pool was a bonus in the heat. This is a lovely place and very close to everything.

The former Brooke Bond tea bungalow has been transformed into a very special brew with terrific designer touches and an air of tranquility with bathrooms to take your breath away. It's a little out of the centre but a rickshaw wallah will have you there in minutes for a few rupees so it isn't an issue. The staff were terrific and their customer service is second to none. We were due to leave at 1.30 am and were slightly delayed and overheard the manager telephone the hotel to check our departure had gone smoothly. It was a delight - the beds may be a bit hard for some but everything else more than made up for it. They even organised our backwaters cruise for us so it was completely hassle free.

A beautiful colonial building, very well restored. Boutique style large rooms with huge bathroom with rain shower...very welcoming after the hot streets of Cochin. Excellent staff who were very helpful. Good food nicely presented. The only let down was the pool area. The small pool was O.K.. but had only 4 beds and the tiling was of a cheap concrete type. Spend money on this and it would be a perfect gem.
