Of course, your best option if you are looking to share the culture in Cochin with the real people that live there! If not, you always have the fancy over priced hotels, 'the white reservation', but i guess you would not be looking at trip advisor because your secretary might be doing all the jogging for you.

so, a few words on the Kapithan: absolutetly delightful in a great location in the centre of Fort Cochin. it is a family run business with all you might need : air conditioning, fresh and comfortable double bedrooms, spacious showers ... and most importantly the warmth and smiles of the family host!

Bestest, Ana

Room Tip: all rooms are great, those on the 3rd floor give out a great view of the city! p.s. if you take breakfasst, ask for the omlette with onions!! Asis (one of the employees there, terribly funny and helpful guy) will get out the best omlette you ve ever had!

Very good value - clean tidy room, good location near Fort Cochi centre, and friendly staff. We stayed here both at the beginning and end of our travels in India. We stayed in a range of 'posher' hotels, and grottier places, but Kapithan was the best value of all. Breakfast options limited, but plenly of other places for breakfast within an easy walking distance - part of the pleasure of enjoying relaxing Fort Cochi.

My second visit to Kapithan Inn, this time we stayed 2 days/nights instead of just 1. Again, we had a very warm welcome when we arrived and our rooms were clean and fresh and the beds very comfortable - great value for money.
Is the perfect location to walk to the Harbour and see the Chinese Fishing nets, the early morning fish market, the craft and spice markets, Kathakali dance centre, and good restuarants and tourist shops, though the latter can be a bit expensive so you may need to haggle a bit with the prices.
The owners can also arrange boat tours, dance performances and give you good advice about the local area. A really lovely place to stay. Thank you Pushpa for another lovely visit.

A very friendly welcome from the small but spacious family-run guest house. Beautifully clean and comfortable rooms. Tucked away from the main streets but we found that a relief. Don't bother with the breakfast necessarily but we rested well there!

Nothing in Fort Cochin is that much from anywhere but this homestay was pretty central though peacefull enough ensure a quiet night. We had a cottage room at the back of the house and were given a choice on arrival of upstairs or downstairs as they were only half full. As others have said its prob worth spending the little extra as our room was huge. We didnt eat here so i cant coment on the food. After check in we were left to our own devises no hard sell on anything and just what we needed.Kapithan is clean, safe theres plenty of hot water though the rather over the top shower
Is perhaps asking a bit much of water supplies! The air con is very welcome on those hot sticky nights
