We moved across from another hotel on Princess Street which we really did not enjoy. Despite the short notice, Christopher the owner fitted us into one room for a couple of nights and then we had to move for the last evening to a down graded room, but that was no problem. The rooms were spacious and well decorated with excellent air con that was needed. Breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit and eggs cooked how you wanted when you arrived. Delicious.

The main thing we loved about this hotel was Christopher himself, he gave us a great local map and told us all the fantastic places to check out. We literally filled every spare minute with great stuff thanks to his advice. He also advised us to go and see his friends George and Maria at the Fort Paradise Garden Cafe for a cookery lesson with Maria, which was by far the highlight of our trip. Much advised!!

This Homestay is very worth traveling! It is beautiful, it has a big trees in the garden. The B&B, Mr. Walton & his wife & there staff were more than welcoming us. It is a great homestay with a lovely family as hosts. It was just great! If you travel there you will make the right decision. Mr. Walton said one sentence which we have in mind since we were there: "Keep options open" - he is so right!! Whenever we will travel to Kerala again we will stay here for sure!

This was a marvelous experience. Comfortable, atmospheric wood-paneled room, quiet courtyard, pleasant breakfasts, fantastic bookshop. Most of all, we enjoyed our chats with Mr. Walton, who shared his expertise with advice on dining (superb dinner at Oceano), dentistry, cultural events and transportation. The homestay is in a very touristy area, but walking a few blocks will get you immersed in authentic old Cochin. The perfect place if you love history and books, as we do.

We enjoyed our stay of three nights at Walton's very much.
It is a quiet oasis within busy surroundings.
He even stayed awake to say goodbye when we got a taxi in the middle of the night to get us to the airport, of course the ride was arranged by Walton.
When we first got there he introduced us to his neighbourhood by given us a copy of a sself drawn map of Fort Cochin which was very helpful.

why would you stay any where else. Mr and Mrs Walton know what to do and do it first class.
The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable.
Breakfast around the 2 large tables in the kitchen, meeting interesting people from all over the world starts the day with a party atmosphere. And the breakfast is good and healthy.
To top this off the garden is a quiet restful area to sit and read or chat with new friends.
You wont be disappointed when you stay here.

Room Tip: I saw 4 different rooms and they all looked as good as each other. You have a choice of up or down...

There could hardly be a better location then situated in a little street full of cafes, restaurants and shops and only a few minutes walk from the Chinese fishing nets and the ferries. Everything we needed or wanted was well within range.
First impressions can be deceptive - Mr Walton's office is full of books (available to buy or borrow) and is just like a real bookshop should be - untidy and the walk through to the accommodation at the rear is also untidy. However the accommodation is set around a lovely little garden with some seats and a swing full of plants, butterflies and birdsong. The rooms themselves are charming, clean, quite roomy and air conditioned though the bed was the hardest in Kerala! There were additional seats outside the room on a verandah overlooking the garden.
At first Mr Walton was a little officious, however once the formalities were over, he gave us some maps and recommended several cafes, restaurants and places of interest. Those we tried proved to be excellent! We soon warmed to him and he was happy to help with any questions we had.
Mrs Walton does the breakfasts - the best breakfasts we had in Kerala. Loads of fresh fruit, eggs done just how you wanted them and toast with jam and marmalade with as much tea and coffee as you like. Breakfast is taken in her kitchen around a large table so it's great to meet other guests and chat to Mrs Walton.
All round a great place to stay for a couple of days.

I stayed in Cochin twice while travelling around Kerala and based on my first stay at Walton's Home Stay decided to return. Centrally located a 3 minute walk from the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Cochin on one of the "main streets" (re: little road lined with tourist amenities: Internet cafes, travel agencies, cafes, gift shops, etc.) it had a great location and was generally a really nice place to return to at the end of another hot, sweaty day in India! Mr. Walton is very polite and helpful with everything from recommending local attractions/restaurants to ordering taxis and offering advice on the best methods of bargaining! The rooms themselves are immaculate and comfortable, tucked away around a little courtyard and away from the bustle of the street. A night watchman is posted at the main door all night so security is also well handled. Breakfast is prepared by Mrs. Walton and is a cosy affair with a chance to meet other guests. So all in all, I can warmly recommend this place!
