“Excellent view”

You have the mainland followed by a river body with an island with a church and finally the open Arabian Sea. One of the best sunset points. Also a small defunct fort of Tipu Sultan can be observed on the land side.

“Suppose one has to see it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

But I'm not sure why - the view of the waterways was pleasant. If you were stuck for time, I'd give this one the swerve, as it's not particularly interesting. For a newcomer to Mangalore, the rickshaw drive there was more interesting.

“Family Hangout place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

Its a typical beach of a typical Indian city. People come here with families and kids and have fun in the sand.. However the sea is a bit rough and risky for my taste so won't recommend bathing/swimming here. You can also see a submerged boat here which has some interesting stories floating around.

“Plain and boring”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

A very small battery built by the mysore kings while ruling mangalore to keep an eye out for british warships entering the city. nothing much to see. the cannons have been shifted to the museum in the city. can watch boat building, take a trip across the river to see the sea, do some water sports around the place. not many people visit though except young couples to smooch etc.

“Boat Ride”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

Sultan Battery is the access point to the New Thannirbhavi beach. Here we get to cross a river near its mouth to reach the beach. The beach here is pretty clean and pretty scenic. The combination of seeing both the fresh and salt water is really good
