“Affordable Luxury in prime area of Bangalore”
Reviewed April 20, 2009

Visiting Bangalore on business trip or official meetings, Race Course Road area houses most Government offices and business establishment.

The area is also thronged with star hotels including the Taj, Ashok etc. However the best value for money hotel in the area is the 37th Crescent Hotel on Crescent road which is within a stones throw from the the Taj and the Race Course.

The area is approachable from the international airport within 35-45 minutes. Volvo AC buses form the airport named Vayu Vajra drop you very close to the hotel for Rs. 125-175 only.

Hotel decor is very unique and impressive and exudes subtle elegance and distinct styling. The hotel is not very big with its luxuriously appointed 60 rooms. Each room is the epitome of contemporary living with stocked mini bar, high speed internet connection, Electronic Safe, Tea/Coffee Maker. Suite room is provided with a electrical massage chair. However it does not have a swimming pool.

However the hotel is still very new. It has not yet commenced buffet lunch & dinner in the restaurants. Only breakfast is served as a complimentary buffet. Lunch & Dinner is served in your room and is surprisingly very affordable. The food taste and quality is very appropriate and homely. The hotel is not yet centrally air conditioned and currently each room is provided with a split AC.

You can easily bargain MAP plan package for Rs. 5600 + taxes pe night.

Hotel is Ok for India. I had to move out of the excellent Taj West End and stay here for two nights. However the noise was unnaceptable and started at 7am. I complained as did others but it started at 5am on the second day. The airshow was on in Bangalore and there was no alternative available. The construction wll go on for months you should avoid this place until it has finished.

its a nice hotel and i would agree with the other reviewers about the paper thin walls.
rooms are always clean and this includes the bathroom too, which is the 1st place i look at when checking into a "new" hotel....in any part of the world.

breakfast is great.....i seldom use the restaurants for lunch or dinner since there are so many other wonderful places to dine....

the only thing which i always gripe about is that the internet service is a paid service and they make you use a card which allows you 24 hours access....however as most business travellers know...how much time do we actually use the internet...maybe 1 hour in a day to catch up on emails....

i think they should just add Rs100 to the room rate and make the internet free......

The staff are always very helpful and will try to do it.....if they can.

I usually stay there for 4-5 nights every 6 months and will be staying again this Sept....

all in all , worth the price.

We stayed in this hotel for about a week in June 2008. It's quite a reasonable hotel---the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large, and the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The two restaurants in the hotel (Chinese on the roof, fish on the ground level) are both okay, and we never got sick from the food. Breakfast is also decent. The main detractions are the noise and cleanliness. There's music playing in a central atrium area for most of the day, which is kind of annoying; except it blocks out sound that carries from room to room, which would be even more annoying. We didn't need ear plugs exactly, but once we got over our jet lag it was a bit harder to sleep. The hotel was also not quite as clean as it could have been, e.g., the sheets and towels occasionally had stains on them. But all in all, it's a fine choice, and definitely above average.

Quite the boutique hotel. It reminds of a couple of cool places in San Francisco, not to small but not a room you will stretch out in. Clean, wood floors, nice bed. A light did not work so the room is a bit dark. During the day you cannot open the curtains or you may as well fry an egg on the floor. The AC just does not keep up with the heat on the sunny side. You have to buy the 24 hr internet card and it works most of the time. The power to the hotel cuts off and they switch to generatior and you get a diesel smell in the room or some fume thing, ouch. It also kicks the WiFi off and I found you cannot always get it to work, but you do pay. The only real issue is internal hotel noise. It is very hard floors, walls etc and the doors/walls are non-existent for noise protection. They blast radio all day and night in speakers set up in the hallways and it really gets bad in the evening. I complained and they finally shut it off at about 11pm. But you hear everything, not so much the outside noise, that goes with the territory, but inside it can be quite the echo chamber at 1am. Bring EARPLUGS and background speaker music for you IPOD to do it's job. Food is good but help is a bit eager with lack of experience or just a bit weird. I found the overall attitude great.
The nighborhood is cool for walking and there is a great place called Coffee World and Juice bars within walking.

  • Liked — Boutique western feel
  • Disliked — noise noise and more internal noise generated inside the hotel by the hotel
