“Overated...but has its positives”
Reviewed December 5, 2009

It was a break that my wife and I needed after months of stress at work. We owed it to our kids and ourselves ;-)

The expectation was

Large open areas for kids to run around - Sports facilities are good and I liked both the squash and the tennis courts. The pool is decent and good for kids

Good food - Completely disappointing. The package was all inclusive so we had no choice but to eat the food from the common buffet. For foodies like me, complete let down

Relaxing Spa - I think the spa is the best thing here. Costs are pretty much on the higher side, but the folks are really good and the hour spend there was the best part of the break

Rooms - The rooms are big and airy and they put this beautiful perfumed candles in the evenings that makes the place smell really nice. However the bathrooms are not large (no tub) and the sofas & carpets need a bit of refurbishment

Value for money - Hmm...not sure, Maybe 5 on 10. i would rather look at another property if i want to do this again

We went to Angsana after spending a night at the Taj West End. And we hated Angsana. The food was poor. The rooms, pool, grounds were barely passable. The saving grace was the large sized cottages/rooms. They had ample space. But, everything else was just about average. Definitely not worth the money spent.

We arrived last night at the Angsana Oasis Spa&Resort. Although we had a confirmed room we were overruled by someone elese and have been moved to a very shabby villa outsite of the club village. Neither the service nor the management could find any solution and finally we ended up later in the night in Palm Meadows on our own. Moreover Services in Angsana are very, very poor and couldn't be worser in former East-Germany 30 years ago. It's definitely not worth the money and you will find much better Resorts with good service and much better facilities in Bangalore for same or lesser price like Golden Palms or Palm Meadows.

Dear Valued Guest,

On the outset please accept our apologies for not providing you with the specific room type as booked for your stay at Angsana Bangalore and all the inconvenience caused to you.

With a mission to be the preferred hotel brand by our guests, we are very sensitive to our business responsibilities and therefore our sales office had kept you updated about the situation as late as the morning of your arrival.

I noted that an offer was also made to accommodate you at Oakwood Premier –Bangalore with complimentary transfers provided by the resort but our offer was declined and thus the resort management had to offer you the next best alternative, which was to offer you the villa adjacent to, and within the same gated community as the resort.

We know that satisfied guests are the key to our success and we have taken your review very seriously for corrections where required.
Apologizing one more time for the inconvenience caused, we look forward to your continued support and to serving you even better on your next visit.

With warm regards,

I stayed at the hotel in conjunction with a conference. Location was fine and being outside of city really helped in keeping the people together. However, the location completely eliminated short visits to the city. For instance, some colleagues had to wait for a taxi for 3 hours after ordering it, which meant that too much valuable time was spent for organizing transportation means. Moreover, a taxi ride takes 1-2 hours to the city depending on whether there is a rush-hour or not. Thus the location does not suit people who have to visit Bangalore and have limited time and/or whose time is valuable.

Another, even more important issue, which arose during my stay, is related to way how the management is maintaining resort's money flows. First of all it took me 4 letters to the registration office to explain that I needed a stay for 6 days, not 7 days as proposed by the registration office after receiving my travel plan. Apparently they were very aggressively trying to increase their sales.

Moreover, during check-in I was given by the hotel staff a welcome letter stating in bold letters which facilities are included in the package and that breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the package as well. Anyway, during check-out they still charged for all the meals and completely backed away from their promises by stating that the letter was a mistake made by one of their employees. The same happened to a number of other participants as well. Making a customer to pay for service provider's "mistakes" definitely does not align well with best practices I am used to in developed countries. And since the resort has similar price level to US/European resorts for the same level of service and facilities, I would expect similar best practices applied as well.

The preceding has irreversibly compromised the reputation and credibility of the entire Angsana group in my eyes. There are plenty of hotels and resorts in India, which are still willing to provide better value within the same price range as this resort reviewed here and I would suggest visiting those. In general I would not recommend staying at Angsana unless you are Indian and have a good lawyer in hand.

A short conference over a weekend was the occassion. Very good layout, fantastic rooms (stayed in new wing), poor service, food not upto the mark and too expensive. Could not use the spa. It would surely have been an experience, for which it is famous. Reception should have been at the entrance level. In all a good place to stay.

4 days or party time and absolute splendor and peace of mind...
this is how I would describe my experience in Angsana. Whenever I think of Angsana, what immediately comes to my mind is the Swimming Pool. Gosh...its absolutely wonderful..and I couldnt resist having a dip even in the november winter..when the temperature was around 18-19c...the pool is just everywhere..so you could have people going by walking across the bridges and like those in the english country side and you could swim...it is one of those dream swimming pools..And the next thing is the location..Being a SPA, it is located far away from the city...and the building plan has been wonderful...each room has a separate private space for its own..like a balcony or a mini park...and the lights in the common space are automatic lights...they glow at the prescence of someone...and automatically shut off...The rooms are spacious and a massage and a spa experience would complete your trip..if not..you have missed the most important part of Angsana...I am waiting to visit this place again...Definitely recommended...would give 6 out of 5..

What makes Angasana unique is their spa. The Thai massages are mindblowing and the ambience within which they give the massages are fabulous. The massage rooms are built on stilts and are open on three sides allowing rich green palms and ferns to practically enter the room. The open-air showers and the aroma oils make this a must have experience.

We also loved the suits which allow my 15 year old son to have his own bed, TV and well appointed bath. And the aroma therapy oils that are lit in the room by the staff every evening, makes the relaxed feeling complete.

If Angsana can improve in any way, its in the food department. They could offer greater variety and a health food section. That would be great. Currently, the food is merely passable.
