"Dodda Ganapathi" stands for "Big Ganesh". The temple houses a big Ganesha statue, and has become a landmark in this location. The ambience is excellent. It's quite hard to see such excellent temples in central Bangalore. We spent about 15 minutes here.

This temple seems to attract quite a lot of visitors - not all that surprising considering the great ceremonies that are held here. Aside from them it sports paintings of various Hindu gods and is overall a rather pleasant experience. Even more so as it is conveniently located right next to the Bull Temple, which is definitely worth a visit as well.

the surrounding area- Basavanagudi gets it name from this temple. "Basava" meaning bull and "gudi" meaning temple. The ganesha temple is at the foot of the Nandi temple.
The "benne alankara" or butter decoration is legendary and a sight to behold.
