I stayed at the Taj for 8 nights in January and I am a regular visitor there on business. Overall the hotel is very good and offers a good standard of accomodation and service for a business hotel.

While I was there the Cafe Mosiac was under reconstruction and had limited space available. What was surprising was that the work kept going, even during dinner one night the banging and hammering behind the partition wall didn't stop. The food was however excellent apart from breakfast. I used the "hot" buffet on a couple of mornings but had to leave my food, hash browns, beans and sausage because it was stone cold.

The food in the Chinese restaurant in the hotel was downright poor.

The one significant downside of the hotel is the "Ice Bar". It is dark, the music too loud and the ambiance poor. It is simply not possible to have a relaxing drink there. The Ista across the road, depsite being difficult to access with the metro works, has a much more friendly and relaxing bar.

The Taj is always been my favourite and first preference. After a long time, I could manage to stay at the Taj Residency, Bangalore

Not let down, was upgraded to the Club floor, the service is impeccable as ever

Stayed in hotel in Jan 2010 last week. It was very good experience. Great Location, near to my meeting places on MG Road. Malls are very near by. Hotels food is great

The breakfast at the Cafe Moziac in the pool area is refreshing. Laze in the cool weather and have a breakfast to your hearts content...beautiful. I had lunch in the Chinese restaurant "Memories of China"...great food again

Highly recommended

My wife and I recently stayed in Bangalore and as a resident of the city for over 18 years she recommended we go and take brunch at the Taj Residency as it was supposedly one of the best hotels in Bangalore.

We arrived just after the breakfast service had finished at Cafe Mozaic on the ground floor and sat outside next to the pool. The waiter told us he had a large group booked and so we would have to clear the table within 30 minutes which was fine by us as we had an appointment to go to afterwards.

We had to request the menus twice, and when we finally made our orders of tea, croissants and a toasted sandwich, we had a 10 minute wait before we saw any signs of life from the kitchen.

Our waiter brought over 2 cups with a teabag in each and then left for a further 5 minutes before returning with any hot water. We were the only people there across the whole restaurant and 30 minutes after we ordered we were served our croissants and toasted sandwich - I could have made them quicker myself walking to a nearby shop and bringing them back.

We were now running late for our appointment and had to eat quickly, and having finished our teas some time before there was no offer of any further hot water for another cup as the waiter had taken the first lot of hot water away after serving our teas.

The food was mediocre at best and a toasted ham sandwich, 2 teas and a croissant came to 1400 rupees which is just under £20. My wife made a point of speaking to the waiter about the abysmal service and he reluctantly agreed to bring over his manager to speak to us.

The head waiter made a short mumbled apology and then we finally received the bill that we again had to ask for twice and were made to pay it in full in spite of the appalling experience we had described to the head waiter.

We finally left after 45 minutes of arriving and there was no sight of any other guests across the whole place so I have no idea who this supposed 'large group' was.

A truly awful experience - I will never return to this place again and warn others against it.

Very good hotel for a work trip: ensures nothing much gets in the way.

Traffic and other noise are not too bad at night but if you're seeking a quieter room in the hotel, choose one on a higher floor (e.g. floors 6-9), and numbers *19 to *24 which are at the back of the hotel (odd numbers better because they are not street facing at all, though 19 is by a (relatively quiet) service stairwell).

Very pleasant and helpful staff (my laptop couldn't connect to their wireless system: IT guy was there in three mins, and lent me a wireless card for the duration of the stay when he couldn't fix the problem). Good food and a reasonable gym (4 treadmills, cycle, step machine, 2 X-trainers, and lots of different weight machines).

I particularly liked the absence of those idiotic cards about how you can save the planet through means of your towels.

Its a great property. Though they specifically target conventions & business conferences.
Room service was good so was the food. If you get a lake view room, it would add to the experience, especially for a business traveler !
It is advisable, not to take the corner rooms. They are a bit smaller!

  • Liked — Superb Location
  • Disliked — Small corner rooms
