“another great stay cation at the leela place Bangalore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

the leela palace Bangalore was once again our preferred hotel to stay in during our stay cation schedule .
the hotel team headed by the very able mr.Andrew Hendrian are so perfect and ever willing to assist the guests with their preferences and requests and it is indeed the perfect place for a stay .

the hotel was this time done up with great looking very well done up roses / carnations and is indeed very soothing and opulent .

the reopening of the citrus restaurant added more smiles on our faces.

the brand new cake shop ,indeed one with the finest selection of cakes and pastries and macaroons is well stocked up and a treat to the eyes as well as the palate .

the house keeping is very prompt and the whole hotel is so clean and well maintained it is indeed a pleasure to be here .

True luxury in a relaxed atmosphere, the Leela Palace truly lives up to its name. All the way from check in to checkout, you will feel like royalty. This hotel has ruined regular hotels for me, setting a whole new benchmark for atmosphere and service.

A refreshing change indeed, The nightclub is a very happening space with a young crowd.also this hotel, although little small as compared to the size has its own class!, Chai is very good inside the Leela palace

Stayed for a weekend at Leela. The rooms, the ambience, the restaurants are great. The SPA experience was excellent. I would recommend that to anyone staying there. There is a very nice pool to relax. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there.

This is one of the worst 5 star hotels that I have stayed at.I travel quite a bit and have stayed at all kinds of properties from 3-star to 5 star. This one is pretty out-dated. Does have the grandeur that everyone talks about, but.....................

1. Biggest problem is the smell within the rooms/floors - the moment you step away from the lobby area into any of the floors.

2. The night I arrived at the hotel, I went through 3 different rooms before I settled down on one, which did not have that weird odor (I later figured out what that was....keep reading). At first I felt embarrassed that it was only me that could smell it, and none of the hotel staff could feel anything, which is what forced me to settle down into a room, since I had arrived late night, and it was getting close to 1am.

3. The bad odor comes from the moisture/humidity within the room's carpets, sofa, sofa pillows and chairs. I am a yoga person, and hence could smell the bad odor on the floor carpet as well, during the lying down exercises ( I did not carry my yoga mat with me :() This is my SINGLE BIGGEST COMPLAINT. I asked the reception to replace the sofa pillows with fresh pillows. The service person that came over did acknowledge that the pillows weer smelly. I then asked him how often do they wash/dry clean/sun dry these, and the answer was once a week. Clearly they need to put a dehumidifier within all of their floors, and the rooms, or do something to get that odor fixed.

4. The bathroom shower drains pretty slowly, so while showering, one could be standing in some amount of still water. Not a lot - but definitely something that should be fixed.

5. Pretty expensive for anything - washing clothes and food. Looks like that the room prices have come down due to demand decreasing, supply increasing. However, these guys want to get you on the food and any other service. One lunch (buffet) with taxes and all cost INR 2000.

6. I was in the hotel for 7 nights - did not look that they cleaned the restroom (toilet) with soap everyday - just flush and go.

That was all the bashing. Now the good part:

1. The hotel staff does want to do their best, but it is the management that needs to take care of the bigger things.

2. Breakfast at the Zen is excellent.

3. Wi-Fi does work well in the room. Did not try elsewhere.

Bottom-line, I am never going to stay in the Leela Palace Bangalore ever again.

Room Tip: Try to find a room that does not smell - I could not find one !!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time and trouble to share with us your valuable feedback during your recent stay at The Palace.

At the outset, please let me extend my sincere apologies for the obvious inconvenience caused you during your recent stay with us. We had indeed a breakdown with one of our Air handling units on the day of your arrival which caused the musty smell in the room. However it was rectified and the fresh air and air-condition restored the following. We also have dehumidifiers at the hotel and offer them on request. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the drain which has also been addressed.

It’s always our endeavour to meet and indeed exceed guest expectations, and I truly regret that this was not the case, on this occasion. I do hope that this unpleasant experience will not diminish your opinion of The Leela Palace and hope to have an opportunity to regain your trust in The Leela. I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel, in the not too distant future.

Thanks & Regards,

Andrew Hendrian

From the drive into the courtyard until you reach your room it is an experience, courteous staff very nice rooms, we chose a room with a balcony which was most pleasing as it overlooked the trees in the garden, the balcony furniture was well kept although maybe just a little low class for the stunning surroundings of the hotel. This hotel is so scenic within the hotel are grand stairways, flower arrangements which are frequently replenished and photo opportunities are abound as you can tell by the numerous visitors and guest who mingle together without even getting congested within the grand space, walk through the lobby and to the right you have an in Hotel shopping Mall which if very worthy of a browse, there is a coffee outlet where you can sit in the Palace gardens and enjoy the atmosphere.
To the left of the lobby are the dining areas which offer a good array of very well prepared and tasty food in lovely surroundings at a cost which I think is average.
Sunday brunch seems to be a very popular thing here so I would suggest booking ahead, for a fixed price you have an exquisite buffet to choose from all drinks included, pleasant helpful staff and live entertainment this runs from 12noon until 4pm I think, as it is an eat and drink as much
as you like during these hours be tempted to try the vast array of food on offer the desserts are to die for and probably far too many to try them all but it is a challenge you have to take on.
They also provide a children's area during the brunch which is decked out with pretty child print cushions and furnishings, toys, teddies, and even a mini size juice bar for them, it is so good to see this facility for the children in what could otherwise be a very grown up surrounding, all the children in the area seemed to be having a very good time.
The swimming pool is very well kept, clean, spacious, with staff on hand at all times to get you drinks or food the water temperature in the pool whilst I was here was quite pleasing.
The facilities in the Spa were very good you can either make a booking from your room, or go the the desk situated in the Gym ( which you have to walk through to get to the Spa) the prices seemed average in here. The Gym equipment and staffing looked very good.
The outside area of the hotel has meandering pathways through trees and a waterfall feature, dragonflies were very busy zipping through and lots of birds could be heard, the calming influence of the water foliage and birdsong made a very enjoyable stroll through.
Cars for the Airport can be booked here and again prices seemed average it takes about an hour in the early morning but maybe add an extra 45-50 minutes during the day as traffic is very busy, would be most pleased to return here again, think this hotel has a good mix of amazing setting, friendly staff and family friendly attitude
