“Best Hotel I've Ever Stayed In”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

This is my idea of colonial India. Exquisite taste and decor. Impeccable service. I'm very well traveled (27 countries and counting). Taj West End is by far the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. Property is a majestic 20 acre nature preserve. Pick a villa.

Room Tip: The "Queen's" Suite - it's reasonably priced by Western standards and very, very w...

Taj West End has been a premium property in Bangalore for the last 2 or 3 decades, thats the whole problem. Its not updated in any way. The food is horrible and rates are exorbidant. No indoor activities, nothing for kids. The swimmimg pool is tiny and the area around it is shabby.

Room Tip: Any room is fine.

This property is a breath of fresh air in the hustle and bustle of the city. Excellent room with lots of space and excellent surroundings. Lush and green. Extremely well maintained. Food options may not be to everyone's liking but there is still plenty of choice.

Treated well with good standards throughout. You will not be disappointed.

Would have liked to seen a wider selection of restaurants. Excellent attention to detail as expected of Taj properties.

A well built hotel in lush green surroundings, has good rooms and a good spa. It is well located and has an openness to die for.

On the flip side, service in the Indian restaurant is non existent at best, we had to wait endlessly to be served, the table top was chipped and we had to ask repeatedly for serviettes. Quality of food was good though. Service at the coffee shop was also lackluster at best, breakfast spread was pretty good. Food and service at Blue Ginger was good, even as one had to take evasive action to avoid pigeon droppings (at lunch time)

Room cleanliness and Butler services were better than in most hotels.

Also had the unique experience where the hotel wanted a valid visa for checkin ! I am not too sure since when residents of J&K need a visa to visit the rest of the country. Maybe these guys have some inputs which I am missing.

All in all an average experience which could have been so much better.

Room Tip: It is advisable to checkup about the functions being held in the hotel particularly in the evenings...

I lived a lane away from this very property 22 years back, and returning here, a stones-throw-away from my apartment block then, was just the kind of homecoming one could wish for... the difference being I am now on the other side of the fence this time... and the grass is definitely greener.
My morning walk sessions - then around the Golf Course, and along the perimeter of the Turf Club and West End - this time are a nostalgia-laden nature walk within the property. I distinctly recall that elderly gentleman's disapproval toward my friend and neighbour - we in our high school teenage years - when she plucked a flower from one of the Gulmohar trees lining Crescent Road - "Very soon this would be a concrete jungle like Bombay" (Mumbai then was still Bombay).
Well, the West End in Bangalore re-assuredly stands testimony there's still hope, as it proudly nullifies that dreary premonition made in the spring of 1989. The verdant environs flourish in an old-world charm and dignity of interspersed colonial structures, beautifully restored. The trees are humungous!!! It is simply awe-inspiring, to see those massive trunks and branches. And tucked away in a tiny patch on the sprawling acres and under the lush canopy - literally an arboreal haven - there is also a quaint old temple.
This aside, the brand today may be reason enough to stay here, not to mention all the other services in hospitality they boast of... truly befitting their current tag - 125 years in excellence.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff.

Room Tip: Their sprawling lawns are popular as venues for high-profile events.... so although your privacy is...

I recently spend a little over a week at the Taj on business. This really is a little oasis in the middle of a busy city. Once you are in the gates past security, you really can’t hear or would know you are in the heart of the city. The restaurant has a buffet for breakfast and lunch with a wide variety and the dinner or room service menu have plenty of Americanized selections for those like me who were worried to try new foods. The Service was truly out of this world. Everyone could not have been nicer and were constantly trying to find new ways to help. I will stay here on every trip to Bangalore.

Its an oasis in the heart of the city...lovely rooms that feel like you're on some island, lush greenery, rooms with high ceilings and large bathrooms...and a great vibe...the staff is extremely attentive...I had a packing nightmare, but the hotel was prompt in providing me lots of the toiletries etc. which I had missed packing...
the downside..the food...the coffee shop dinner was terrible...the breakfast was good, with some very attentive waiters...i'd recommend eating out, avoid room service as well
like any TAJ property, the staff here make it a must stay!!

Room Tip: if you're ready to spend a little more, book the suite!!
