“Spiffing, old boy”
Reviewed June 22, 2010

This is a property that will instantly appeal to the Anglophiles and colonial-era-philes among us :)

Set back a little from the main road, but visible, distinctive and impressive from the outside, the first impression is definitely that of a colonial-era mansion, with primarily white construction, pillars and collonades.

The impression continues when you get inside, with wooden floors and furniture that was described to me as "Queen Anne". (I disclaim expertise; this is what I was told!)

Check-in was very quick, as I have generally found to be the case at ITC properties. This is particularly true if you have any premium standing on either the Welcomgroup's own or Starwood's Frequent Guest programs.

I have stayed here a few times on business; this particular trip was a holiday with family. When we got to our room, it turned out to have a colonial period decor and feel (though with all the modern conveniences you would expect of a luxury hotel), just like the exterior. On one or two of my earlier trips, I have been accommodated in rooms in a different wing, with a much more modern feel - presumably a more business-oriented wing. I'm sure there are names for the two wings or periods of decor, but I didn't pick them up - sorry!

Our ground floor room opened out into a quiet, seemingly private courtyard, with nice love-seats.

The hotel has a number of restaurants offering different cuisines; in fact more than we could have sampled without staying a couple of days longer - again a characteristic of the better ITC properties. Breakfast was in a restaurant called the Pavilion, with broad skylights letting in natural light. Breakfast was outstandingly good, offering excellent South Indian traditional items like dosas, and Western-style items as well. Excellent service, and great South Indian coffee. Unreservedly recommended!

One small downside of the location (which is otherwise very pleasant, close to one of Bangalore's oldest golf courses) is that the property being somewhat set back from the main road, it isn't possible to just step out of the hotel and find a cab or autorickshaw - you will generally need to have, or order, a car.

Service throughout our stay, again as has generally been my experience at ITC properties, was prompt and cheerful. We experienced a happy stay, even with a teenager alongside, and would definitely recommend to others.

I've stayed in at least 500 hotels in India and abroad. The kind of person I am, a hotel needs to treat me really badly for me not to visit it any further.

Windsor is THE BEST in service that I've come across in Bangalore. This was a home away from home for me, and I loved my several stays at the Windsor. While the Windsor is a 5*, its special service, the 3 restaurants (Dakshin - south indian local cuisine), Dum Pukht (Indian) and the pub, the lounge offer amazing culinary delight to visitors. I have never been disappointed while ordering or enjoying complimentary snacks at the Tower in the evening.

At the manor everything is looked into with great detail including the toiletries which range from within the good to the best in Wills, and Hermes for the suites. The hotel itself is so tastefully decorated that it reminds you of the old Victorian days, and you're treated too as Royalty.

A special mention to the Pavillion (The coffee shop). Excellent choice of a gastronomic delights for an extremely heavy breakfast buffet. I have spent hours here over coffee and more coffee that the nice staff would replenish on the first cup getting over.

I only wish that the Windsor includ othe activities like table tennis/billiards to maintain that extra edge. With the ITC Gardenia coming up, a number of people (NOT as loyal as me) have shifted base to the Gardenia.

Love the place.

ITC Windsor reminds you of serenity in the heart of all hustle bustle and traffics jams of Bangalore. It is a very beauftiful hotel with absolutely modern with all business and leisure amenities. I have stayed in this hotel on business as well as liesure many many times. It provides relaxation in the true sense.

The rooms are very big and you will be very lucky if you get to stay in a luxury room because the balconies are huge. Fell the beautiful Bagalore breeze. Staff is extremely courteous and even if you have visited here only once earlier or be it your first time, you will feel as if everyone knows you. They always have a smile on their face.

Breakfast at Pavilion gives you the best. They start your day with blanched almonds and buffet spread varies from continental to Indian to chinese anD so on. Dosas are exceptionally good!

The other restaurants including Dakshin and chinese are very good too.

They also have a beautiful spa in the basement with some very good massage options. Must try!

Pool is very neat and clean and one can get a real good sun tan in beautiful Bangalore weather sitting by the side of the pool.

I have stayed here when my child was real small to now he is five year old, I have another seven month old now, and our family love to come back to this hotel again and again. It has become our home away from home. Business or liesure, ITC Windsor is the perfect experience.

A lovely hotel that is so charmingly old world.

Hotel:
Its a really old hotel in an old building. White walls and pillars, wooden floor boards. Makes you feel that you're in a different time. The rooms are tiny and not very well furnished, but it all some how adds to the atmosphere. There is a lot of thoughtfulness in the amenities. They provide you with a sleep kit every night. With aromatheraphy oils, eye mask and ear plugs.

Service:
The service here is wonderful! I usually have breakfast outside by the pool. You can opt to have the buffet breakfast served to you at your table. The waiters will also suggest additional items you might want to try.

Food:
Quality of food is really good. I've had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Excellent place for a slow leisurely meal.

Pains:
Inline with the security issues in India. There are checks everytime you go in and out of the hotel, both at the gate and the entrance.
Location is not great. Unless you hire a car (which most ppl do) you will find it very difficult to travel ard.

Tip:
Opp the hotel is a lovely 'mansion' which has been converted into a store. I think its called the raintree. They sell clothes by Indian designers as well as furniture. Very beautiful and cheaper than back home.

As usual it was a business trip and I stayed for 2 nights. He hotel is vintage which adds to the charm. They are also making it more modern in small steps. The service as usual was very good, warm and prompt . . though at times it seemed a bit too sweet. The in-house meal was sufficient in quantity and rightly priced. They also priced the internet pretty smartly. Instead of charging purely based on hours of usage they priced it on speed (kbps). Also they tried to be innovative with the breakfast menu – instead of the plain pancakes, they had chocolate pancakes, they had very interesting whips – pista, strawberry, chocolate, etc to complement the traditional drink options. They also had a fruit/ juice bar. Most interestingly they offered you a small meal box in which you could carry daily basic – bottle of water, couple of fruits, cake slices, etc. That’s pretty good. The property is well located. The washroom will do with a little bit aof a get-up. But it’s the little innovations that they bring makes it different. A vey good experience.
