Owner description: Malleswaram, that bastion of Tamilians in Bangalore, is another locale that is a whole world away from India’s silicon city. Watch maamis in their kanjeevarams haggle in the market, visit a temple or two, eat local food and browse through small shops. The Kaadu Malleswara Temple and Sankey Tank are oases of calm amid the bustle. A new arrival on the scene is the incongruous Mantri Mall, much reviled for being the harbinger of modernization in Malleswaram.

“A middle class residential locality.”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Malleshwaram is just a residential locality. The 8th cross being a place to shop for groceries, basic clothes and Sweets. The streets are very crowded and makes it difficult to even walk especially on the weekends and on holidays.

“Old Bangalore Charm”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Parts of Malleswaram manages to retain the charm that had once made Bangalore the most envied city in India. In fact, Malleswaram is "Mal" of Malgudi. The name Malgudi was inspired by Malleswaram and Basavanagudi, though the description of the town itself is said to be a take on Nanjangud.
The two key roads at Malleswaram - Sampige Road and Margosa road still manages to have trees that once made Bangalore the garden city of India. Opening of Malls like Manti Square is taking away the charm of the place. Eight cross Malleswaram, once a key shopping hub has lost out to swanky malls though middle class junta still frequent the place.
While at Malleswaram, do visit NKB opp sampige theatre for varied breakfast and neer dosa; Veena Stores for Idlis ; CTR opp Malleswaram grounds for dosas.

“Lively Place”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

Lively place with so many activities happening around, many shopping malls with less distance like Big Bazar and Brand factory are adjacent.
