The premier water body near the MG Road area has suffered neglect in recent years. The water is brackish and dirty and the place can be a mess as a result of idol immersion during Durga puja and Ganesha Chaturthi. There is a track around most parts of the circumference of the lake for walkers and hawkers sell small eats like chaats, tender coconut, ice creams, fried groundnuts, etc. during evening hours. This attraction has great potential if it is maintained well and if it provides activties for visitors like boating, kayaking, mini-zoo, etc. Even the corporation/municipal swimming pool which was closed for renovation many years back is in utter state of neglect.
