Thyme The Transit
Ranked #3 of 611 Bengaluru B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Thyme is around 9 kms from city (Majestic).
dates i stayed : 05 & 06th jan 2013.

Positives: Behind Indira Nagar Metro Station, Calm place, Decent sorroundings, 2 to 5 minutes walk to good hotels ( Adyar Anand bhavan, KFC,vegetarian restaurants or bars)
Water, power all the time. Complimentary breakfast is tasty, Mosquito mesh on windows.

Negatives: 1. Do not have website 2. Room details : Shabby looking bedspreads 3. Unlike the room , the Toilet should be cleaned everyday .3. breakfast timings on sunday is late, starts at 9:15am 4. No Water bottle provided. (But a water jug would be provided, i took it to kitchen for refilling it)

Note: Be carefull on checkin & check out time. my experience: even though you are staying for 36hrs, you would be obviously charged for 2 days which is
normal. My 24 hrs windows runs out at 7.30am at morning. As my bus departs from santhi nagar busstand at 9.30pm , i mentioned my check out at 6pm .
I was bit hooked into the TV as India / Pak match was going live and stayed till 7pm. But i was repeatedly receving phone calls to my room from the boys asking me to vacate ASAP.Also they came in person and asked me to leave .They said guests were waiting to check-in but i saw no-one waiting at reception.
so my advise here is be carefull on checkin & check out time.

Advise: Not too pricy or less. comfortable stay. If you are on a business trip / personal trip near Indira Nagar or within 2kms from Indiranagar then Thyme is good. City bus are available in plenty just a matter of 3 minutes walk.
Metro station is just behind Thyme, 12Rs per head to MG road (last stop) towards city's centre direction.

Regards
Lijil

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Also, thank you for the thumbs up on the 'Positives'.
As for the 'Negatives' - we have taken serious note of them and will make efforts to remedy them. Breakfast timings, as the note in the rooms state, is between 8:00 am - 10:00 am.
As also, previously noted by another guest, we do not provide free mineral water.
Regarding the checkout time, we are extremely sorry for the incident. We only took the liberty of taking a booking after confirmation from you that you will check out at 6:00 pm. Once again, we can only apologise for any inconvenience caused. We hope that you will continue to patronise Thyme.

The location is a real advantage. Right behind the Indira nagar metro station, it is easy to reach. Gives a homely appearance from outside, but is just like a hotel inside. The rooms are spacious enough, but the bed sheets are shabby. The bath towels were also not clean. No food available in house except breakfast. If you need dinner, you need to order it outside and wait for delivery and you will get the food in packed condition. Overall, the accommodation is value for money, but there are still chance for improvement.

Room Tip: Try to get a road facing room, it might give you a better view.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and are happy that you think "Overall, the accommodation is value for money". We have made a note of your remarks on the sheets and towels and will address them at the earliest.
As for food being available in house - many of our patrons do not realise that we are a Bed & Breakfast and are listed on TripAdvisor as a B&B/Inn. There are numerous eateries at a stone's throw from Thyme ranging from fast food to high dine. And we hope that our guests will never go hungry!

Thyme The Transit is for those who need a convenient location on a budget with good transit access. It is just behind the Indira Nagar Metro Rail station on CMH Road, so reaching MG Road, Brigade Rd and that part of the city is about ten minutes away at Rs.12 per ride. Plenty of restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute walk.
The staff are not the formal type, but are helpful. Breakfast is for the man-on-the-go, who is interested in a bite before setting out. Wi-Fi free access was a plus; as was flat panel TV in room with most channels including movies. If you are not the athletic type, stick to the first two floors. No problems with hot water, although on occasion, it might take a gentle nudge if someone forgets something. Hosts were very courteous.
I would think this hotel will grow and invest more in in-room materials. When Bangalore's Metro construction is complete, you can pretty much cut through the gridlock to far corners, and come back to this serviced apartment complex.
It might be an idea for the hosts to throw in a bottle of water with the room; right now, the boys helpfully go out and buy you one quickly.

Hi,
Thank you for your appreciation - "convenient location on a budget with good transit access". As a Bed & Breakfast our offerings are limited. Though, we promise to look into your suggestion of throwing in a bottle of water with the room!

Note: No water bottle, no soap/hand cream etc. Worn out towels. No room cleaning......perhaps goes with the price.

Positives: Convenient location (right behind Indira Nagar Metro Station). Price.

Negatives: Shabby bathroom with ineffective shower head and no enclosed shower area. So called "hot water" is just luke warm. Very basic breakfast (only omlette and dosa, which was over when I went at 9:00am). Terrible service - no toilet paper even after repeatedly asking. Had to buy my own!

Overall: Not recommended.

Frankly, I don't know why the other people are raving about this place.

Sir,
Firstly, we are a B&B and do not profess to offer in house bottled water, hand cream, etc.
Secondly, breakfast closes at 10:00 am. You did partake of the bread and omelettes that was available, though dosas were closed before you came down.
Thirdly, house keeping cleans rooms only if the guest leaves the keys at the reception.
We have made a note of the fact that our staff did not supply toilet paper on request and are sorry for the same.
Most of our guests consider Thyme The Transit value for money and we are saddened by your remarks.

Thyme has great rooms, service and its it's great value! Fortunately, it's conveniently located right next to several established fast-food chains all within walking distance.
The rooms are clean, and employees effective.

Excellent room, courteous staff , warm hosts . I have been staying in different hotels in and around indiranagar for past year. Been travelling to different cities in India. Thyme is a total value for your money. A lot better than the hotels in the area with same tariff. I would surely suggest this to my organization to consider as a stay for its employees who are travelling to Bangalore.

Room Tip: If you are a couple , choose the pent house.

We are happy with our stay at this hotel during our Bangalore trip. The location is a big plus, as although currently Bangalore metro is only 10% opened in business out of the entire planned network, but once the whole metro completes construction it will be a major method for visitors to get around the city (as in Bangalore, taxis are available by appointment only and auto-rickshaws are, as always, a hassle). So it is really important to stay at a place near metro station.

The neighbourhood around the hotel is also very interesting to explore with lots of good and diverse restaurants. When arriving for the first time, however, you should prepare a print-out map as the building is located on a small side street called NGEF Lane which runs parallel to the south of CMH Road. You can search for the place on Google Maps but please note it's not 100% accurate (the actual location is more toward the middle of the NGEF Lane, in between 10th Cross Road and 100 Feet Road).

We did quite a research when exploring accommodation options in Bangalore and find that this offers the best deal in town as far as we could find, as the facilities, decor and overall atmosphere is really the best you can get in this price range, so it is strongly recommended.

We are quite surprised to read some negative reviews on Tripadvisor about drinking water and breakfast. For us, we did not expect that the hotel will have to provide free water in the room and almost every hotels we've been to in India only have bottled water for sale to the guests who ask (one hotel did give us free bottles of water, but we feel guilty taking them as we feel we should pay). We always make sure to prepare a bottle of water in our bag anywhere we travel in India by ourselves, so it did not occurred to us to expect a free water as part of hotel's duty (not just in India, but everywhere in the world). The breakfast is basic and exactly as we expected (teas, eggs, toast) and we couldn't imagine anything to complain about. Note also that the ground floor of the hotel has a staff kitchen and you can buy food & drinks of your choice to keep in the fridge there for your breakfast too.
