Brahmin's is a time tested, popular, ancient restaurant in old Bangalore.Located in Basavanagudi and frequented by a very discriminating, long term clientele, I had heard of it but had never actually gone there.
One winter morning my sister and brother-in-law took us there. The food was everything that I expected. We had the idlis, vadas, khara bhath and of course the piping hot "kaapi" - coffee made South Indian style in a drip filter.
The place is incredibly clean with someone wiping the stainless steel table every two minutes. The turnover of diners is very quick and the tables are for standup eating. We saw many many people come in, order, pickup, stand, eat and leave. This is not a place to linger when it is crowded.
The prices are very reasonable and the food quality is top notch. Only a limited offering of vegetarian food is offered. If you want a taste and ambiance of old Bangalore, Brahmin's is the place to go. We went in around 6:45 AM as we were told the place gets very busy.
