My mom and I stayed at the newly-opened Four Seasons Bengaluru for a week-long vacation this month. We enjoyed this restful holiday more than any other. The reason? The staff of this beautiful hotel.

Since we were long-stay guests, we really got to know the hotel in and out. Wherever we went in the hotel, we were greeted with a genuine warmth and affection which is impossible to find anywhere else in the world. You may stay at magnificent hotels, but if the service is wooden, inconsistent, or feels put on, I for one can feel that instantly.

During our stay at the Four Seasons Bengaluru, I began wondering what it was that made the service at this hotel so special. I realised that it started with their General Manager, Mr Fredrik Blomqvist, an impeccably mannered gentleman from Sweden, who has done a truly remarkable job of recruiting a group of people who truly want to serve the customer. In fact, you are never treated as a customer, but made to feel like a much beloved friend who just happens to visit your home for a few days!

Fredrik (we came to a first-name basis on the first day of our stay itself) has also taken the pains to ensure that each staff member is trained in the Four Seasons values and philosophy, a philosophy that puts the guests needs ahead of everything else, no matter what. Each member of the staff communicates really well in English, and takes the time to have impromptu conversations with guests. Their dazzling smiles will remain etched in my memory forever. So if you are feeling gloomy about something, I suggest you take a trip to this hotel right away!

This hotel, I must say, may be the closest the Four Seasons chain has ever got to reaching perfection in staff attitudes. A short stay here will convince you of why I say this.

I could go on and on, but I will not close without mentioning some of the staff who went out of their way to ensure we felt at home--

F&B service: Sandesh, Moin, Sanil (who kept me entertained whenever I stopped by his bakery for a bite), Som (whose dedication to serve the guest was flawless), Samim (who over the course of a few days became like family to us), Suneeta, Harshita, Upasna, Abhishek (Copitas manager), Albin, Kiran, Siddharth, Nikhil, Vinoj, Abhishek (Cur8 server), Akshay (who convinced me not to miss next year's Jaipur Literary Festival)

In-room Dining: Piyush, Tirthankar (who ensured our standing orders arrived each morning on time)

Chefs: Stephane (who greeted me every morning with a cheery 'bon jour'), Vignesh, Vivek, Abhijit, Gobu Kumar, Partha (he shared his cashew and cinnamon cookie recipe with us)

Front Office: Jacob, Mahesh, Siddhant (who helped me with problems I was having with my phone, and took the time to text me to make sure mom and I had reached Mysore safely), Akshay (who arranged a car to take me to a city park so I could jog), Anousha, Sumi, Ayera, Ajit, Rachita (who helped me cancel my train tickets, even though it was a cumbersome task), Pushkar (who escorted us to the railway station and went out of his way to ensure that my mom, who is 87 years old, was comfortably boarded onto our train for Mysore)

House Keeping: Datta, Rikthi (who left little handwritten notes on my mom's pillow every morning after cleaning our room, asking us to call her if we needed anything else--my mom hopes that the hotel will convey our special thanks to her)

Engineering: Faiz

Fitness Centre: Sudarshan, Mark, Govardhan, Miggy, Meenu (who noted some of my suggestions for the new fitness centre)

I do have a couple of minor suggestions for the hotel, things I feel could perhaps be improved--

1. I am not a big fan of wall-to-wall carpeting in the guest rooms. I would prefer that subsequent rooms be floored with a wood or stone floor, so guests have a choice about what kind of flooring they would like in their room.

2. The seating in Cur8's pastry shop consists of a high table and bar stools. I am taller than the average Indian (I am 5 ft 9 in), but still found it near impossible to get onto the stools and sit. I am wondering how the average Indian lady (who would be about 5 ft 3 in) would sit on these stools, especially if they also had young children or older people with them. I suggested to Sanil that this area should have comfortable sofas, chairs and small tables which are of a dining height.

I wish Fredrik and all his team at the Four Seasons Bengaluru a hearty congratulations for opening what I truly believe will be the best hotel in India.

Dear AshishM436

What a great review.
Thank-you warmly on behalf of the entire staff here at our just opened hotel.
It was heartening to see so many of our teams mentioned here .... starting with the little handwritten notes, Chef Partha's cashew cookie recipe to Pushkar seeing your mum and you to the train station like a one would, to a departing family member. Good to know that the teams made you and your mother feel looked after during your stay with us,

In the end, it is the people who power our brand, and who help our guests depart with memories.

We have made a note on your mention of the ergonomics at the Grab n Go section of CUR8 and will see what can be done.

We really hope to welcome you back soon again. Please pass on my kindest regards to your mum

Warm Regards

We stayed at the Four Seasons Bengaluru on the first weekend after they opened earlier this month. It is one of the newest hotels in Northern Bengaluru, close to Mekhri Circle, and the second Four Seasons hotel in India after Mumbai.

My family and I loved every minute of our stay. Right from arrival in the lobby, where we were greeted with traditional local scarves and a refreshing welcome drink, to the elegant comfort of our suite and the gracious service by a young team of enthusiastic ladies and gentlemen, we felt truly pampered.

We were unfailingly addressed by name as we spent two days using the hotel facilities, including the heated outdoor pool and Cur8, their huge all-day dining restaurant (240+ seats!). The service was attentive without being obsequious or over-zealous. Of course the hotel design and decor reflects the luxury stature of the Four Seasons brand, but what really stood out was the warmth and confidence of the team across all areas - a hallmark of every great hotel. The General Manager, Mr. Fredrik Blomqvist, certainly has a lot to be proud of with this opening!

Mr. Blomqvist personally welcomed us on arrival, along with Ms. Neha Bose, the Director of Rooms, who escorted us up to our suite and then devoted a lot of her time to show us around the hotel later during our stay. Ms. Aiyera Khan, the Assistant Guest Experience Manager, handled our check in formalities with aplomb and also met us several times during our stay, just to have a chat about our experience. She is a very charming young lady with a great sense of humour! We also had the opportunity to interact with a number of the hotel's management team, including the Front Office Manager Mr. Jacob Babu, Mr. Ashish Nehra who heads Food & Beverage and his Assistant Managers Sandesh and Vikrant, the Executive Chef Stéphane Calvet and his team leaders Chef Dirham, Chef Vivek and Chef Chiranjeev, all of whom were extremely personable and helpful. Some of the other team members who deserve special mention are Amit Ranjan, Dominic, Vinesh, Akshay and Nakul in Cur8, Moushmi in the Lobby Lounge and Sulagna and Nitin in Housekeeping. They were all great!

Usually, when you have a mix of team members hired from different brands working together, their varied "professional upbringing" tends to reflect in their demeanour.
But here, while most of the team has worked in other hotels before, it is a testament to Mr. Blomqvist's leadership and the Four Seasons culture that they all displayed a consistent sense of quiet pride, genuine friendliness and sincere humility. Each interaction we had with them left us feeling really special and well taken care of. They delivered not just a product, but a complete experience - and one that we will not forget for a very long time!

Thank you for creating some wonderful memories, Team Four Seasons Bengaluru...we will see you again very soon!

Dear Mr Singh

It has been a true pleasure to take care of you during your well-deserved staycation in the city. A much needed antidote to our busy lives !

We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your time here. As you've rightly mentioned, the design and decor of our newest Four Seasons address in India is on the lines of subtle, effortless luxury.
But what we are really proud of, is the way the teams have blended into the culture that has always been the cornerstone of our brand. It does take a trained eye to catch this detail, and we are not surprised that you've discerned the same.Thank-you for your kind words.

We look forward to welcoming your family and you again for another restful holiday

Warm Regards
