My favourite breakfast destination. Try eggs benedict and dosa masala. Simply outstanding. Waiters are so attentive and caring...

I like to visit the Le Jardin at The Oberoi for many reasons. The most obvious is the food, a fine balance of Indian and Continental dishes presented in an eclectic manner. Yet nothing is intimidating. The ambience is pleasing, even the lighting is optimum. Likewise, the central air conditioning is never freezing. Le Jardin may be in the CBD of city, still it’s an oasis of calm.
There’s something homely about the place. It’s got to do with the food. Every dish retains its essence and isn’t oily. No doubt, the varied antipasti, tapas and mezze selection are served in style, but portions are realistic.
We began the meal with a green pea soup. This warm and appetizing soup had the right consistency. A basket of inhouse organic breads arrived at the table. The bread basket included healthy options like bread sticks flavoured with flak seeds. A must have is the unusually soft and fluffy buns to be consumed with fresh butter.
The restaurant has repeat guests and that’s because it has taken care to include basic offerings which others may overlook. The rotating buffet lunch menu dishes up fanciful desserts with seasonal mangoes, yet it offers simple necessities like a glass of buttermilk. Likewise, a drizzle of olive oil and hint of herbs sit nicely on a dollop of mozzarella. I liked their idea of offering different types of salads like marinated tomato tarts and baby potatoes with shallots.
Coming to the main course, I chose a basic spaghetti olio pecorino. It was cooked to perfection. My co-diner enjoyed an oven baked crusty tart with tomato and feta. My co-diner opted for the palak paneer with pulkas, where the paneer turned out to be so soft and pulkas light as ever.
The dessert section had a nice mix of Indian and Continental stuff. I would say full marks to the carrot cake. In most places, carrot cake turns out to be dry and tasteless. Le Jardin has got it right, it was a scrummy carrot cake that melted in the mouth and came along with its own crust (no icing). There were individual portions that were wholesome. I was tempted to try the mocha panna cotta. Even as I began to eat it, it started to wobble gently, before giving out its smooth and light finish. Kala Jamun was another treat, the black surface neatly concealed the softness inside. The dark chocolate tart is another must try.
At Le Jardin, you can enjoy many helpings without feeling uneasy.

Loved the lunch buffet here. The service here is really excellent -- attentive but not intrusive, and very friendly rather than stiff. The highlight of the buffet is the appetizer/starter selection -- a huge variety and interesting, tasty dishes.

The buffet table has a choice of soups; some salads; some cheeses, cold cuts, kalamata olives etc.; a huge selection of appetizers, each in its own small, square appetizer plate; and a good dessert selection. In addition, they serve bread rolls at the table and allow you to order from a selection of kabobs and tandoori starters (the tandoori prawns were great). You pick the main course from a small menu, which apparently changes over the week. In addition to the desserts at the buffet table, they also offer you ice-creams. The buffet cost rs 975+taxes. Drinks are not included. Classic cocktails on the menu were around rs 600; beers were in the rs 300 vicinity.
