A marvelous, atmospheric, quiet guesthouse in the middle of the city chaos of Bangalore.A real oasis. We were in easy reach of the metro station at Trinity, and many good shopping outlets.
The host ,Ajiht, was a mine of information about Bangalore and India, and went with us on some 'expeditions' in the city.
Our holiday was rounded off with a fantastic Christmas party,in the company of Laika,Ajiht, and many of their friends.
I highly recommend this guest house(don't all go at once,or there'll be no room for me). :-)

An easy introduction to busy Bangalore, this peaceful and atmospheric b&b provides the privacy of upstairs rooms with tree top views combined with an opportunity to discuss all things Indian with host Ajith over a delightful breakfast. Also, he was extremely helpful to us in planning our travel arrangements.

Just returned from our first ever visit to India, during which we spent two separate weeks at The Laika. The hotel is a little gem set in a quiet lane in a convenient location. We stayed in double rooms, en suite, and greatly enjoyed the excellent home-cooked Indian breakfasts. (Cereal, toast and eggs are available for the less adventurous!) We cannot praise the owners and their staff highly enough, we found it to be a real 'home from home' in which we were made very welcome and cared for in every way. First-timers in Bangalore could easily feel overwhelmed by the experience at first but Ajith and Laika offer reassurance and help as well as sound local knowledge. They were paricularly helpful when we needed a minor hospital procedure, Laika accompanied us and made sure that the hospital staff gave us their best attention. If we are able to return to Bangalore we will certainly stay with them again.

Room Tip: Rooms are individually decorated, all are beautiful and share spacious public areas and balconies. T...

Excellent little guest just around the corner from MG road - and busy Bangalore. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good size, clean rooms and decor. Breakfast was amazing and fresh. I would recommend to solo / independent travellers, couple and families.

Date of Stay: 16th Aug 2012. Duration: 1 night.

I looked two separate nights directly with Laika and found the email responses to be fast and friendly.

We had two individual one night stays at this wonderful place.

Ajith and Laika (his wife) are utterly wonderful hosts.

The rooms are wonderfully clean, spacious and well appointed. The breakfasts were excellent.

Our time here was very very rushed as this was a busy week for us. We had two nights in Mysore in-between our stays. To pack light for Mysore, we felt comfortable enough to leave the bulk of our baggage behind until we returned.

Ajith is a wealth of knowledge and more than happy to share! He pointed us to a wonderful Saree shop, Mysore Saree Udyog where we had a Saree and Dhoti made for us.

Our only regret is that we did not have more time to spend there and talk to them.

We have reservations in recommending that others stay there too. We certainly will!

I stayed at Hotel Laika for only one night, but would have happily stayed there for a long time. Laika herself was away, and I was looked after by her husband Ajith, and one of their sons. They were brilliant! Ajith personally organised a couple of taxis for travel I needed to do, including sorting out a detailed itinerary. And their son lent me his own computer for half an hour to sort some things out on, and also helped me research a trip, and twice ordered dinner for me. Although normal check out time is, I think, at some point in the morning, my flight home was not until night time, and Ajith very kindly offered me the option of using the room till then, since it wasn't booked by anyone else.
Breakfast was excellent - I chose a masala omelette, and had a large platter of fruit - there were plenty of other things to choose from too. The building is very nicely decorated, and clean. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Stayed one night during a whirlwind tour of South India. The inn is tucked away in a residential area, yet very central about 2 minutes from MG Road. The house is very new, but still has old world charm.

Ajith made our stay special, with his warm welcome, great tips, and help organizing a Mysore and Somnathpur trip. The room we had was on the main floor, very nicely designed with a beautiful bathroom. Breakfasts are great, Indian food - and Western food if you have to have it, but we stuck with Indian and loved it.
