“AN ABODE OF PEACE AND BEAUTY”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

A magnificent hill with slightly steep concrete road which will take you to the top where one can watch and enjoy the beauty of the 'Stupa'. This site should be visited in afternoon so that apart from enjoying the beauty of this marvellous architecture, one can also enjoy the golden hills during glorious sunset.

“Not just another Chorten”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

As the subject suggests its not just any other Stupa, Situated 2 kms from Changspa, the stupa offers amazing city view and is a must visit place for photography enthusiasts.

A Stupa is a symbol of Buddha’s Teaching. It is like a time capsule in which Buddha’s relics, Holy Dharma Books and Buddha statues are sealed for future generations.
Construction for the Ladakh Shanti Stupa started in 1983 by Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura and the Temple attached to the Stupa was inaugurated in 1985 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

“visit the stupa in the evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

an evening visit is great because that way you can see the views around and after it gets dark, the stupa is lit in warm lights, which is a very fascinating sight. its different from the rest of the gompas in Leh.

“Bird's eye view of the Leh city, gets extremely beautiful at night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

This is one of the most beautiful places in the Leh city. Once up at this place, you can see whole of Leh. It oofers amazing view. Moe the place is very peaceful and you can meditate in the temple close to the Stupa.
The lights make stupa look even more beautiful at night. I would recommend getting here in the evening and stay till the lights are illuminated. You can either take stairs or cab through the road.
