Avid spa buffs, we saw the ad for the new Vivaanta property and signed up. Little did we know that the advertised spa was not operational.
We were provided cabs by the hotel and when we took one into town for sightseeing we asked the cab driver the fare to the city and were told it was complimentary. Very impressed by the taj hospitality (we thought to make up for the lack of operational services) we were equally shocked to be charged for this same ride into the city in our room bill.
We wanted to visit the floating market which as a traveller I know is at 5am, but the concierge was ready to book me a shikara for 10am when the market is over!!!
Finally we told the hotel we wanted to eat at a very highly recommended dhabha (by them) on our way to the airport. A group of 8 with 4 small children we were packed and ready to leave at 11:30 (again as suggested by them). We waited out in the sun with the taxi refusing to put on airconditioning for 1 hour for the bell boys to get our bags from the room! on top of it, the taxi driver simply drove past the dhaba and claimed the concierge gave him no instructions of going there and dropped us to an airport ill equipped for lunch 2 hours early!
