The hotel is owned and managed by Munisa and her family. This property is in business since 1982 but a wing got renovated last year. That is the wing we stayed in and loved our stay. Since Munisa booked this property on phone for us, it was a privilege to spend time with her during our stay. Munisa's son Kashif is our best friend now.

Pros:
1. The suite room is exactly as is shown on the hotel website video.
2. Rooms and Bathroom are spacious.
3. 24 Hour Hot and Cold water is available.
4. Suite room has masterbed room with double bed, a lounge facing the park and a small bed room with single bed.
5. The ambiance and furniture in the room is very comfy and tasteful.
6. ACs an fans were installed in the room for a comfy summer stay.
7. Hotel had a descent power back up.
8. Room Service Staff was very helpful and the hotel Manager Zulfikar (Zulfi) is the best man.
9. Bonfire followed by buffet dinner in the hotel gardens was a good social event.
10. Property is well maintained and peaceful.
11. it is about 10 minutes drive om Dal lake, Lal Bagh and other important points.

Cons: These are not the negative points per se but worth mentioning.

1. Room did not have any heat arrangements. Nights get chilly.
2. Since the hotel is not in the main market, there are not many food options/restaurants near by.
3. The variety, quality and taste of the food can be worked on while the portions were handful.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone going to srinagar. All the guests at the hotel felt as important and relaxed as we did.

Room Tip: Ask for the room in the newly renovated wing. They have suites and deluxe rooms in it.

I am glad your stay in mirage was nice .Each and every room in Delux Block has an air conditioner /heater. If any of the staff would have been asked they would have shown how to operate it.

This is the first time that we have visited Srinagar / Kashmir without having any information with us on how to move and where to proceed for seeing. Anybody without hesitating and blindly can rely on the Hotel Miraze management and other personnel working there for getting the best guidance. Particularly the manager Mr. Zulfi, what I have read in the some of the views given by some guests of Hotel Mirage, have come true on our visit to Hotel Mirage. Reception is excellent. The services rendered by all other service boys are really appreciable. All our family members have given a good mark for Hotel Miraze. The location of the Hotel, standard of room which was allotted to us (4 bedded) quite excellent. Availability of food items in restaurant is good. If the Hotel Management provides the South Indian Dishes also, then there will not be a pin point of negative view about Miraze. Really all our family members enjoyed a lot at Srinagar because of comfortable stay at Hotel Miraze.

Room Tip: Pinewood Deluxe rooms has mesmerizing pinewood smell

I visited 1st time the Kashmir Valley and my stay in Hotel Mirage and the services rendered by the staff made me feel that stay in Kashmir will be ever memorable sweet stay. Particular mention to the manager Sulfi, room boy Joseph driver Rishi and Aslam all were very polite and courteous and ever smiling Joseph and Sulfi were the assets to the hotel. The charges were nominal and the food was up to the mark and I did not have any indigestion problem of taking the food.

Room Tip: there Delux rooms are super good...

We had been to Srinagar on the way to Leh. And booked in this hotel for a night. Mainly because it is on the List of Youth Hostels. We were group of 8 people.

Room was clean and Bathroom Huge... Clean. What else one looks for one night.

People were courteous. Overall it was good.

“Gar firdaus bar-rue zamin ast, hami asto, hamin asto, hamin ast.”
“If there is a heaven on earth, it’s here, it’s here, it’s here.”

Indeed the above statement thrilled me all along throughout life geographically, and when learnt in school by Jehangir till I really went there and saw it all for myself……

A trip which will be unforgettable and cherished all through life indeed for the beauty of the place as well as warmth of the people of the city. One such place ought to be Hotel Mirage and the warmth that each one of them carried in their own way,was awesome right from Zullfi, who takes care of Hotel Mirage till the support staff Anjum and others were extremely humble…

The room was cozy especially the bed with the right ambience of day light, awesome food, the garden in front of the rooms added splendor to its already beautiful surroundings.

This lovely Hotel is Tucked in the quiet streets of Rajbagh yet easily accessible. I feel not only for the Nature and beauty aspect of Kashmir, I would come back and have a longer stay here, but also for the fact it switches off your mind to relax and try to be one with nature… especially the garden and the swing :)

We fondly remember our Lovely Hosts Mr.Omer Shah,Mr.Zulfikar Ali and the support staff at Mirage. We wish them all the very best for their new restaurant with candle lights which is the brain child of the wonderful wonderful Mr.Omer Shah and we wish him success in bringing the concept of the theme into reality.

Though we were on a transit at this "Real Home in the Valley" just for a day should say the Service was just Fantastic the support staff went an extra mile creating smiles.

The bottom line is it helped us synchronize with Nature.

Cheers,
Amuthan & Komal

Thank you for taking the time to give us such a detailed and beautifully worded a review.

The way you expressed your feelings for Kashmir and Mirage in your review was very touching and an absolute pleasure to read. It is such an honour to receive such words of praise. We are delighted to know that we were able to give you an experience to remember us by. It's a great feeling to know that in some small way we will live on in your memories for years to come.

We try extremely hard to provide an atmosphere and surroundings where you can mentally and physically completely relax and let your mind switch off. It's such a great feeling to know we have been successful in our efforts.

We hope you will visit us again soon, this time for a longer period so we can give you a taste of true Kashmiri hospitality and give you more fond memories. Thank you very much for choosing Mirage. It was an honour to serve you.

Best wishes,

Hi all,

I recently made a trip (June2012) to Kashmir with my family. We were 8 people, and had booked in Mirage hotel for 4 days. The amount charged for 3 rooms with 2 of them with 1 extra bed each was Rs. 36000/-.
Although the owner of the place (unable to recall his name - a young chap) was very courteous, helpful with respect to advising about where to go but the hotel was not worth the money.

1. The hotel is quite far away from Dal lake, specifically the Boulevard Road (to tell you the truth this is the place one should stay). You should not stay far away from this place as major eateries are there, and this is the place which you would like to be in in the evening after you had your day trip

2. In this hotel, we couldnt muster to order any food because we couldnt find this expensive food anywhere, whereever you will eat in any restaurant would be cheaper than this hotel to eat. It is extremely overpriced, they can literally reduce price by half, I think people fall prey to the Meal package deals along with Hotel and waste their money because you get tied up with the hotel to eat, wherein their prices are not discounted by stretch of imagination in case of a package thing as in package deal it cost you Rs. 200 per day per person for breakfast, so in my opinion you can eat anywhere in Kashmir for much less than that with a food of your choice.

3. It may be the problem with us only but two of the rooms had problem with television, apparently one senior family member was fond of watching news after coming back from day trip and ironically in his room cable was not there for 3 of the 4 days and he kept on asking the hotel guys to get the tatasky recharged but they didnt heed to our request. In one room there were only few channels coming.

4. In between we looked at rooms in other hotels, I think Srinagar becomes expensive in June but still it seems we could have got a better price had we gone in Srinagar and booked there only.

5. Hotel Mirage is probably good for people who wants to stay faraway from dal lake and have no other options but to book here only, other than that look for something near Boulevard Road.

6. We were going in the morning and coming back late at night so didnt need to go out but we actually did so because hotel was far away from everything.

7. We pre-hired a vehicle from the person discussed in this forum sajjad, he is very sweet talking and he appointed one Mr.Javed to us his car was not available. To tell you the truth Sajjad may be very good but this person tried to take advantage about us being not aware about how things operate in Kashmir. This was told to us by a fellow Kashmiri, these taxi drivers will take you to places as they recommend where to eat/shop where they have upto 30% of the billing. You can make out from the part that wherever they take you to eat, they will get free food there. Although we were ready to pay for him but we realized he was taking us to limited places, then we started exploring on our own and instructed him to stop at certain places, from then onwards he got irritated and behaved as if something wrong has been done to him...but we went on with our thing and we realized he was taking us to really bad places for food etc.
Hence, you can completely rely on the fact that in Kashmir taxi guys are not to be trusted easily.
For food you may go to one Delhi Darbar something like that on boulevard road, it has probably the best vegetarian food there, along with lot of options, only problem is it very crowded but the food is tasty and a good value for money (bill for 8 of us with 4 males and 4 females was Rs. 800-950 everytime we ate there).

8. Do not miss GONDOLA ride to second level in Gulmarg and make sure you book 1st level tickets on internet and you get there for the 1st level ride by 10 AM to make the most of it. 2nd level generally closes around 1-2 PM and it is a big mess to buy ticket for 2nd level as there is collusion between local agents and ticket sellers, they sell many tickets to these agents, there is security etc but everybody is paid off....monopoly thing at its best, we were able to get the tickets after standing 1 hour in line for 2nd level but it all was worth it once you reach up....

8. Review is completely personal and has nothing against anybody...it is regarding value, convenience vs money.

9. Will post experience in detail with all the pricing, time to spend, food etc....

You can contact me on tripadvisor for any queries.....

Cheers,
tj

We booked this hotel after reading some good reviews and were terribly disappointed with the property. We booked for 3 nights and were stuck here as we had to pay everything in advance. The rooms were in poor condition, food was below par, bathrooms infested with insects & no WiFi even though promised during the booking. The hotel staff was helpful with travel etc but just depressing to stay in this hotel in a beautiful place like Srinagar.

There are plenty of hotels in Raj Bagh as well as right on the banks of Dal Lake with splendid views. We would have happily stayed in any of these other hotels.

This response is a surprise to us since we never received any such serious complaints from any of our guests. If the complaint is genuine we would like the customer to identify himself so that we may redress the same. We are always happy to respond to any grievances provided they are genuine.Travelers may judge for themselves on our website
