I would say that this was the best hotel we stayed in, during our Himachal tour in 2011. We had booked 3 standard rooms and were quite reasonably priced.
We had reached the hotel at 2am midnight but the staff was courteous enough to help us check in at that point of time as well.
We were given all the rooms on the first floor and one of our room was upgraded to a Deluxe Suite at no cost. That was a delight.
The rooms were very spacious, need & clean. Every room had a balcony which offered marvelous views of the Ice Covered mountains. During December, Manali was super cold but the blankets given by the hotel helped to keep our body warm. The room had all the required amenities and the staff was helpful.
We stayed there for 3 days and I must say that it was a very good experience. The hotel also has its own parking area which is spacious enough. The only problem with the hotel is that, to reach the hotel you have to cross through narrow roads and the entry gate is also small which can allow only one vehicle to pass at a time. Except that everything was worth the money.

An excellent budget class hotel in Manali. Contact me if you need more details. :)

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with Balcony.

we stayed there for 2 days in may 2013. I booked two family suit room on first floor.Room was quite spacious.View from balcony was very nice. parking place ok .Food quality was satisfactory.Need to walk 500 mt from mall road. If having own vehicle and want to go rohtang pass get a letter from tourist dept with the help of hotel manager else have to rent a car from the mountains. its a good option.

Room Tip: better go for family suit

The Tourist Hotel is excellent value. They keep there prices the same year round even during peak Indian Holiday season. The hotel is clean, the rooms large and the staff very helpful. Jeeps, Buses, Trains etc can all be organised from the Hotel. The quality of the food is good. This isn't a top end Hotel but situated in a quiet part of town with pleasant gardens. The gardens are shaded from the sun and light showers by a parachute. It actually looks attractive and makes a very nice area to sit and relax. The hotel allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of Manali. The Hotel has internet access and the staff were very helpful in allowing us to use it. The hotel is a 5 - 10 minute stroll to the centre of town. Having stayed in Manali many times this would be my Hotel of choice if I am looking for value and quality.

Room Tip: This Hotel fills up quickly consider booking in advance

I stayed in Tourist Hotel during May 2013 for 3 days. I had booked it online through MakeMyTrip seeing the reviews. The choice was not bad. The hotel is located slightly away from the center of Manali town, about 8-10 min walk, but in close vicinity to the Mall Road.

It is tucked away nicely in a calm and serene place which was its highlight. The hotel had lot of open space and did not look congested. Though the property was little old, it was maintained well and the rooms were also good. Views from the rooms were one good thing. It offered good view of the mountains and most of the rooms had independent balconies. The rooms were spacious for the price paid. Bathrooms were clean but some accessories might need attention.

Though you cannot expect a 5-start hospitality and service, I felt the service was still good. The restaurant offered decent food and was worth. There is ample parking space as well, though reaching the hotel in vehicle is little tricky as the approach road is narrow, but I think it is okay.

Overall, I would recommend this place to people who are looking for a value-for-money, budget option in Manali with decent ambience while not compromising on quality or service.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with independent balcony. Check if all the accessories in bathrooms are working prop...

Tourist Hotel is a good 'Budget Hotel' situated in a narrow lane which is about 500 mts from the Mall Road in Manali. Although the location is not very convenient, the rooms are spacious and have offer amazing view of snow clad peaks. The bathrooms are clean but some of the plumbings need repair. We stayed in 2 family rooms for 3 nights and didn't have any inconvenience. The room service is good but they don't take orders after 9:30 PM. The Breakfast and the Indian food served is very good but the Chinese options are not so tasty.
Overall a good experience on a family vacation at reasonable price.

Room Tip: Please book rooms in 1st floor for views of the Mountains

I was not left impressed by nothing other than the size and price of the rooms.

Thumbs up to:
1. Room size
2. Room price
3. Great view from the rooms

Average service.

Thumbs down to:
1. Not so clean bedding
2. Not so clean bathrooms
3. Difficulty to reach the hotel.

Room Tip: Go for a room with balcony and a view of the mountains. Costs just a little more than the other room...
