This was my second visit in a month to this quaint AD Singh promoted Parsi eatery...the first 'upmarket parsee eatery" tho informed that a parsi canteen near the Delhi Gate stadium serves even better and authentic parsi cuisine...the first time went for a business meeting and just had a summer cooler - Shekanjabin (Shikanji to punjabis)..loved the way it was served in old style milk bottles with jaggery crushed mint and plums ...with mumbai style vada pav and maska pav, the latter with sinful dollops of butter in a fresh bun..the second time yesterday with my family for a proper meal...hugely recommended were (a) bacon keema and cheese macaroni a twist on the spaghetti bolognese, the bacon lending a additional welcome flavor to well known taste of bolognese..(b) Berry Chicken Pulao...their signature dish. a biryani with cranberries and nuts and soft succulent pieces of chicken ...the bouquet of flavors that burst in the mouth is to die for.. total standout dish and one alone worth making the trip for all the way to gurgaon.. (c) Marghi Na Facha (Chicken fry) with a mint chutney and sliced onion rings..the chicken lightly fried and just perfectly crisp was soft and very tasty.. (d) chicken sausages starters were fresh and tasty. ..keema pav another popular mumbai specialty & bhendi bazar ka seekh paratha are hugely popular and mouthwateringly flavorful...drinks ordered were sekanjabin and Raspberry Soda an amazing pinkish concoction of crushed and sweet raspberries which manages to shock but pleasantly so and very filling..the only down side to this amazing meal my friend lolita ordered normal tea without milk but that was refused and apparently the masala tea is prebrewed with sugar.. she had to settle for a green tea with lime and mint, healthy no doubt but a forced option...

But one revisited Sodabottleopenerwala simply for the amazing ambiance...the decor is retro and quaintly parsi..simple shaded and quirky with hanging lampshades.. with water served in huge milk bottles and dishes in aluminium dishes ...jail house rock.. ???? and the tables with calico print covers .. the attempt to recreate the ambiance of mumbai's famous and hugely popular Leopold cafe..

the price is on the higher side (it can burn a small hole in your pocket) and serving portions can definitely improve in size and quantity.. ..but then i suppose you pay a price for the quality of the food and the amazing ambiance...

definitely worth a visit for a taste of good quality Parsi/ Iranian Food.. if you are not hugely finicky you wont come away disappointed

I went to have lunch one afternoon in the newly opened Sodabottleopenerwalla restaurant in the Cyber hub in Gurgaon. I had heard much about Irani and Parsi cuisine and wanted to have a taste of it.
The cuisine is mouthwatering and will tickle your taste buds like never before. They have kept the menu simple with few chosen dishes. We ordered baida roti, a keema stuffed fried parantha type, and koli fry, a fried prawn dish, as appetisers. The prawn is yum. Then we ordered chicken Berry pulao, patrani macchi and a chicken dish. The berry pulao is to die for. You can just have the pulao without any side dish. Top your meal with a masala thumsup and you have a completely culinary satisfaction.
The place is moderately priced and the decor is homely. They have tried to give the look and feel of a Irani cafe with checked table clothes and wooden furniture with rows of jars in the counter containing nan khatai biscuits and a handwritten menu board at the entrance.
The service is fast and exceptionally good. I have fallen in love with this place so much that I went back twice in one week to taste the awesome food.

Have visited this restaurant at Cyber Hub twice now, once in March this year and the second time a few weeks back. I liked the food and the Parsi touch food items a lot hence the revisit. They had got their bar licence the second time and we were able to try their innovative cocktails. On the Food front especially good were the boneless mutton curry , the banana leaf wrapped fish, the spicy Indian batter fried chicken was good as well . A well priced place with good food and service . Definitely on my must go back again soon list

Great place , good service , some nostalgic feeling.
I did not had much here except a drink and chilly cheese fries.

The drink Bawaji ka thullu - parsi version of LIIT is really a must try.

Will go back soon to try more but there should be more vegetarian options available.

If there’s one place in Delhi NCR, which is there on everyone’s wish list its Soda Bottle Opernerwala. If the place is done up differently and the food is good then people in Delhi embrace it and love it. Usually the curry travels from Delhi to Mumbai but this time it has happened the other way round. I am very glad about it. Soda Bottle openerwala is a relief from the sudden attack of Italian eateries in Delhi NCR.

After hearing mostly great reviews about it I was very excited to try this place. I wasn’t surprised to see a people waiting outside in the sun waiting for their table (they have a waiting sofa inside the restaurant)

The décor is superbly done up by Mrs Sabina Singh (A.D Singh’s wife). It looks like a very upmarket, quirky, classy and a very cool version of Irani Café’s that you would normally see. From check table clothes to big glass jars of cookies/cakes they have got it bang on. The TV that plays promos of films like Little Zizou also is a great addition. A pool table and the flooring deserve special mention.

What works for Soda Bottle Openerwala is that there is no other Irani café in Delhi NCR and the Chef- Manager Anahita Dhondy is Parsi.

Their menu is not vast but has very interesting dishes. I think right now they are familiarizing Delhiites with Parsi flavors. So a Dhansak and Sali boti might get added later on. (Hopefully) Their menu mentions lots of Quirky Parsi traits. The names of the dishes such as Tardeo AC market’s Mamaji grilled sandwich, Dilshad’s Desserts and a few others sound personal and special.

Naturally after hearing so much about the place I went there with a lot of excitement. Mr Rajan (The manager) greeted me nicely and gave us a corner table after few minutes of waiting). He was very sweet to give me Berry cookie and almond cookie while I was leaving. Mr Alok (The Steward) was very well informed and recommended lovely food to me. The service was quick.

I went there with my friend and we ordered:

1) Sekanjebin (Persian dried plum and mint cooler)
2) Vada Pav
3) Berry Pulao (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
4) Sali ka Marghi (Parsi Chicken with Potato Sali Served with a pav)

I wanted to have the Lagun Nu Custard but I was full after eating so much. The food was very tasty and a relief from the regular food. I loved the Sekanjebin and Vada pav was melting in my mouth. Berry pulao is their most selling Dish (I saw it on practically every table). They serve their Dishes in aluminum pans and it looks pretty cool.

In all, it’s a very well thought of place. A place either you like or you don’t. The moment you will walk into the restaurant you will forget you are sitting in Delhi NCR.

The bill came up to Rs. 1295 (inclusive of all taxes) the bill holder is very cute and gives funny instructions on “how to pay”.

After I’ve come back I want to name myself Khanakhanewala.

If there’s a place which is buzzing right now its Soda Bottle Openerwala and rightfully so.
