“Good for a business traveler”
Reviewed March 21, 2011

I stayed here for a few days during a business trip to Gurgaon. This hotel primarily serves the needs of nearby IT companies like TCS, etc. It is a nice and quiet hotel for a business traveler who just wants to get the work done and get back home. The Ambience Mall --a large shopping mall -- is a couple of kilometers from the hotel and provides ample dining/entertainment options. I liked the fresh lemony fragrance that was being circulated throughout the hotel, probably through the AC system. The hotel did have an adjoining restaurant that served good food and beverages. I noticed some people non-guests enjoying themselves at the bar. So after a long day, if you just want to unwind before going to bed, this place was well equipped for the task.

Rooms were a little small for the price I paid but I guess that is to be expected in this area.

The Lemon Tree Udyog Vihar is unlike its brothers in Sec 29 Gurgaon, not a very plush hotel. This is an average hotel for the traveler who has work in that part of the city. The hotel rooms are decently sized and the bath and toilets are neat and comfortable. However, the location is way to congested. Finding a space to park will run you out of your wits. However, this place scores big as it is located in the heart of the industrial district of Gurgaon. The restaurant is great and is multi-cuisine. However, the continental food is better compared to the Indian served there. You may want to prefer the other Lemon Tree hotels located in the Sec 29 area.

Good, clean, functional place with all the basic necessities that one would need for a quick business trip. Be prepared for a strong whiff of lemony aroma as you enter the tiny lobby.

Staying at Lemon Tree was a pleasant surprise!
Now, I've never written reviews for hotels before, so having the will to write and share the joy speaks loads about how much I loved staying there.
While I was traveling mostly for exam purposes on a short one night stay, the hotel managed to cheer me up lots during the stay.
I really enjoyed the cartoons in the elevators, funny sayings on the corridor walls and jokes on the restaurant tables. The fresh lime smell in the entire ambiance, was a added refresher. The only negatives I found were that the staff wasn't as helpful or nice as I had expected. Also, the location of the hotel in a lane in some industrial complex is a put-off.

Overall, the lemon tree chain has hotels with few frills, but with some new concepts (which I haven't seen in any other hotel chain in India). So if you are a kid at heart then go ahead for a stay. Bet you'll enjoy it. :)

We booked this hotel for a 7hours stopover in Delhi. Thinking the Radisson was really expensive, we decided to try the Lemon Tree (on google map it is shown as one of the closest hotel from airport). Yes, the hotel is close enough (about 15 by car) and hotel can arrange airport transfer (internet rate is INR8,969 and includes two airport transfers). While the whole experience was ok, the price we paid felt like a rip off in comparison with the level of accommodation and service.

The flaws:
- before booking, I sent an email to this same address in order to know how far was the hotel from the airport and never got an answer
- upon arrival, nobody helped us with our heavy luggage
- room had a strong smell of cigarette
- The cars that were assigned for airport transfers to us were in a poor state and not suited for such purpose as they were much too small (our luggage had to be placed on the front seat, leaving no rooms for our legs)
- sound proofing of the room was almost non existent, we could clearly hear the sound of a engine outside (maybe a generator, or air con)
- around 6:30AM, we were woken up by a customer and a man from the reception talking loudly in the corridor. I had to go out of the room personally to ask them to lower their voices
- breakfast is mainly Indian and not suited for foreign travelers (well you can get eggs that swim in oil).

While lemon tree hotels wants to project itself as a "upscale full service moderatley priced" hotel I would say it is a "overpriced upscale guest house".Going by the website and prices we were under the impression that it will be a good hotel however what we got was

a) The hotel at udyog vihar is more like a guest house in the garb of a hotel and in my opinion should not be priced more than INR 2,500
b) The room sizes are for a particular size of people. Meaning the rooms are too small
c) Staff at the front desk are all fresher’s and incapable of handling multiple guests, expatriates
d) Lobby was unable to handle more than 5 people together at a time, with 7~8 guests checking out at once the lobby was bursting at seams and with staff not having a clue of what was happening
e) With the locations and size of the rooms, the entire night there was a generator going off somewhere in the vicinity, all of us complained to the front desk nothing happened nobody did anything.
f) The coffee shop prices are the same as a 3 star however do not have half the things on the menu. We had to go out to have dinner at 11.30PM and there was no cab available in the hotel at that time since the hotel has only one innova and the driver had left after finishing his duty for the day.

The hotel website was a little complicated to use. A couple of complimentary things like a meal or airport transfer etc are great add-ons. The hotel is small but that is because it was the very first property of the chain. Other properties have been made larger.

Very comfortable and helpful staff. Although most staff are new and so a little hesitant to go the extra mile.

The hotel GM Mr. Johnson Minz is an absolute delight and so passionate about his work. I needed some medication in the night and he immediate arranged a car (with his compliments) to the chemist and back. He did this without even checking if I was a guest at the hotel. This is what I call hospitality.

The room is comfortable but a little small. The fittings and furniture are too big for the size of the room. I hurt myself from the bed side table 3 times in the night and also hit the table under the TV a few times while passing. The sharp edges hurt. The TV did not work and was SUCH a nuisance to get started. However, due to fatigue I did not even bother. The room advertised free DVDs and player but there was no DVD player in the room.

Overall, the hotel is a little expensive but better than most other branded hotels in the area. I would stay here again but a big reason for that is the GM's hospitality for my medication. :)
